  1. A solid game, no doubt. It provides a visceral, bone-shaking experience. Unfortunately, the changes made from FN2004 only detract from what was otherwise a very satisfying fighter.
  2. Combinations become instinctive and defence second nature. Throw in an engrossing career mode, as well as the facility to create your own boxer, and you finally have a heavyweight boxing game.
  3. Simply put: if you are a fan of boxing, this game is a must-have. The controls are hard to get used to at first, but once you do get used to them, prepare to unleash some serious fury upon your unfortunate foes.
  4. The best realistic boxing title we’ve played, and few fight fans will be disappointed. [Apr 2005, p.114]

An impressive simulation, granted, but marred by a reluctance to genuinely progress. [Apr 2006, p.108]
  6. There are some things that made me grimace, such as the repetitive commentary and sluggish movement for online play.
  7. The most authentic videogame adaptation that we've ever seen... [but t]he Career mode whilst engaging doesn’t sustain your interest for long enough, and like many boxing titles will have all but the most hardened fan switching off long before the belt is won.

Brilliant game. It's awesome at 2 player, I like the career mode option as well. The best sports game apart from FIFA.

Game is good but there is always room for improvement. Like there is now pre fight intorductions and you cannot knock your opponent out of Game is good but there is always room for improvement. Like there is now pre fight intorductions and you cannot knock your opponent out of the ring., and I mean straight into the floor. And why every knockdown is like that fighter collapses to his death? When you win by KO or TKO the opponent is still standing and crying that he didint win. Where is the logic for that? EA should use rag doll knockdowns like this: If you knockdown your opponent for first few times, he shouldn't drop lifeless into ground. He would stumple or slip or just crawl not fall like a corpse. Other than that the game is great with good control and lasting career mode. I really hope next year corrects those little, but IMPORTANT things. Full Review »
