  1. Bottom line: Get this game. If you’re a newcomer to the series and have been curious as to what everyone’s raving about, give this a shot. The AI may be brutal in later levels, but the learning curve and well-crafted Practice Mode will serve you well.

Accent Core is a proud representative of a terrific series. The character designs alone are worth the money, and luckily for us, everything else in the game is polished and virtually pristine.
  3. The only real problem with Accent Core is its lack of originality - hence the 8 instead of a 9 - but it's still a fantastic fighting game with one of the deepest fighting systems ever seen and a cast of unique-but-balanced characters that will have you playing until your thumbs bleed.
  4. With very smooth controls, outstanding 2-D animation, a sweet rock soundtrack and plenty of modes and fighters to tackle on your own or with friends, this game packs more than enough value to make up for the $30 beating your wallet just took.
  5. Accent Core is the latest of these, and it provides a fresh wave of balance tweaks, new mechanics, and two additional playable characters (ABA and Holy Order Sol). The changes are solid, but there isn’t anything that radically alters the landscape of the combat.
  6. If you're looking for a 2D fighting game that's totally nuts, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core will give you what you want.
  7. This is 2D fighting bliss, the likes of which we haven't seen since the heady heydays of Capcom, SNK, and Midway dominance. [Oct 2007, p.54]
  8. The problem is, no matter how much you tweak Guilty Gear XX, you've still got a pretty stale game at this point. [Oct 2007, p.87]
  9. By the end of the day Guilty Gear is a fun game that brings back some great memories of 2D fighting and considering that your options are slim to none on 2D fighters, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core may be your best, if not only, pick.
