  1. I'm beyond impressed with this game. It retains a lot of guitar technique and doesn't cater to the attention-span challenged, dance-game crowd.
  2. It’s a simple idea, but the best ones always are.
  3. There is no other way to describe Guitar Hero other than it’s a fantastic game that’s a blast to play.
  4. In a year of gaming filled with sequels and formulaic games, Guitar Hero raises the bar on innovation.
  5. This is exactly what video games are all about: putting us into the shoes of people with abilities we only wished we had. Guitar Hero offers the chance to become exactly that, kidding you into believing that you could jam with Hendrix if only you put your mind to it. And if he wasn't dead.
  6. It should also be said that the recording that went into the tracks is fantastic. Harmonix did an amazing job of pumping the sound from just a stereo signal in a way that absolutely fills the room with rock.
  7. I can see me playing this game again and again, because it's not just about nailing each song once, but really thrashing through the chords.

This is one of the few games I can remember picking up and instantly having a blast with. I am an experienced guitarist, and Guitar Hero This is one of the few games I can remember picking up and instantly having a blast with. I am an experienced guitarist, and Guitar Hero simulates playing a real guitar amazingly well. I have seen musicians and non-musicians alike enjoying this game thoroughly, and the song selection appeals to pretty much everyone. If you've ever dreamed of ripping out a monster solo in front of an arena full of screaming fans (and who hasn't?), then you owe it to yourself to buy Guitar Hero. Expand

How can you notDan R. thinks this game sucks and that it is quite possibly the worst game ever made. Dan R. is an absolute social retard. How can you not have heard about Queen or Jimi Hendrix? Rap is also not the best style of music in the histroy of the world. It has its high points sometimes. Pun intended. Dan R. is a closed minded person who is not willing to try any game unless it has explosions and people being blown to pieces. Which, don't get me wrong, everybody loves those games. (Including myself). In his own words, " No one in their right minds would actually play it." This is a completely stupid comment for two reasons. One, he obviously had to buy the game in the first place. Two, if he didn't buy the game, then why write a frickin' review about it?!?!?!? Collapse

No one in their right minds would actually play it. First of all, you have to use a cheap plastic guitar instead of a real controller. Playing the game isn't fun at all. Unlike other games, there is no ability to free-roam any kind of environment, shoot anyone in the face, engage in hours and hours of pointless random battles, and it doesn't even use a leveling up system to replace actual variety in gameplay, all you do is play rock songs on guitar like a retard. Which brings me to my next point, the songs. No one likes these songs. Some of them are like 10 years old or more. Everyone knows that if it isn't on MTV right now, it's not good music. Shame on these people. There isn't even any rap on there, which is the most popular genre of music in the history of the world. If they wanted people to actually buy the game, they'd have a lot of rap, and the new Gwen Stefani song. Instead, it's all like lame guitar music from losers I've never heard of like Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, The Ramones... I guess those people are all new and not very popular or something, and I don't like them because they don't have any top 40 hits right now... probably because they are homosexual retards. If you're cool and like actual MUSIC (the kind without dumb guitars), don't even think of getting this game, don't give these posers any of your money. I'll be playing GTA rip-off #385 instead, and so should you.[ED- they say sarcasm is a lost art...] Expand
