It's graphically stunning, the sound effects and music immerse you into a tense and exciting atmosphere of total chaos, a strong story compels you through a long single player campaign full of variety and challenge against tough enemies and the fully online multiplayer mode can be played split screen with a bunch of bots for those without a network adapter.
In spite of its sorted technical problems and humdrum story, Killzone provides a great ride; perhaps it's a testament to the game's surplus of style and ambiance that it remains enjoyable throughout.

Hailed as the "Halo killer" of its time, it never lived up to that premise. Overall though it is a very good and highly underrated game.

With some better controls, more polish and better hardware, Killzone could have been a real contender for best console FPS.
The game is also a trying experience online. Apparent lag, even though you're playing on broadband, is everywhere. Character animations are limited and it's difficult to target someone from long distance.
There's still some fun to be found here, but ultimately Killzone is a barely adequate game that probably won't hold your attention for very long.
The innovative controls for the sniper rifle don't allow the player to pull off precise headshots when they're needed most, which leads to rising frustration.
Like the game’s aiming, Killzone misses the mark by a mile. Afflicted with so many niggling problems it has ended up a shambles of game which barely delivers on any front.
Killzone (PLAYSTATION) attempted to beat Halo (XBOX) and well they are both epic but I prefer Killzone because its really the Sci-Fi genre I like in Video Games. Alot of people don't like Killzone because it tried too much to be the PLAYSTATION version of Halo but after Killzone 2 and 3 came out everybody shuted-up. I see on METACRITIC that K1 got 70/100 and K2 got 91/100 and K3 got 84/100, um I don't care what those guys say for me K1 is the best out of the trilogy, Its campaign is a real challenge, the graphics I'll pass on that one, the characters are Bad Ass and Killzone deserves 10/10.

Not really what I'd call a 'halo killer', but I'd say it's alright. My main problem I have is the controls, I tried to configure them to make it more playable, it did help, but the weird feeling is still there. I do assume after Killzone Liberation (it was on PSP so no dual analog sticks) Killzone 2 fixed the control issues. Ot was also weirdly dark in some places, not a big deal but I wish I could make it a little brighter. Overall it's not that bad, but it hasn't held up the best.

If you allow this game to stand in its own space, it's not that bad. However, if you hang on to the original, supposed "Halo killer" narrative, then you'll have sold it back, like I did, the first time, before I repurchased, & finally completed the story.
With the Helghan having bullet sponges for flack jackets (they truly eat bullets throughout the entire franchise), & this game being super repetitive at times, it can be enough to frustrate & turn you off. But, if you power through, like I did eventually, you'll share my view.

REVIEW: Um jogo extremamente mediocre, que tem certa reputação devido aos seus sucessores, pricipalmente ao Killzone 2 e 3, que tem reviews muito favoráveis. Seu ponto mais positivo é a cutscene inicial, que empolga, cria grandes expectativas e dá uma esperança que o jogo melhore com o passar da campanha.
Infelizmente não tive paciência suficiênte para terminar o jogo, dropando após 3 a 4 horas de jogo.
A história tem uma premissa muito boa, mas o narrativa não é um dos pontos fortes do jogo. Mais a frente na gameplay pode ser que ele melhore este quesito.
Os gráficos são simplesmente OK se comparados a outros jogos da mesma época. Alguns cenários são bem modelados, mas outos parecem ser um pouco genéricos.
A jogabilidade deixa muito a desejar, ficando atrás de quase todos os jogos de FPS da mesma geração.

I'm gonna be honest, there's only three things I will remember out of this game: Some of the soundtracks (Joris de Man can make a generic soundtrack one second and an eargasm the next), the Helghast's fantastic, intimidating look (I swear what is it with PS-exclusive shooters and cool looking villains?) and how BAD the rest is: Tasteless graphics and repetitive levels, souless characters (except Hakha)
Same as Resistance: Fall of Man, I'd suggest a remake treatment.
