  • Summary: All the egomaniacal, violent splendor of heavyweight boxing comes to the PlayStation 2 in Knockout Kings 2001 by EA Sports. This title employs EA's new CyberScan technology, which allows the boxers faces to be accurately reproduced in full polygonal glory. In addition to the graphical overhaul, the game features new modes of play and simplified control. Choose your champion from a stable of boxing's greatest, including Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, and Lennox Lewis. A new career mode allows you to play through several weight classes and to box at famous arenas all around the world. Expand

It is without a doubt the best sim-style boxing game on the PS2, and it makes "Ready 2 Rumble 2" look even sillier. But if you're expecting or are looking for a Rumble type game, steer clear of this title.

Playing in career mode is deep and truly teaches and trains you to box better, and the Fantasy Fights are perfect for fans of boxing who have always imagined boxing as their idols.
  3. Most definitely in the same vein as other EA Sports titles like "FIFA 2001" and "NHL 2001," but nowhere near the almost perfect stature of "Madden 2001."
  4. Knockout Kings 2001 is more of a hitting simulation than a boxing simulation, which is a complete turnoff for die-hard boxing fans who want realism.

the most realistic of all the knockout kings games. includes a good-sized roster of fighters too. other than the loading times, not too much to complain about. to give an example of how realistic it is, recently played the game with mosley vs. vargas. the fight was stopped due to a cut on vargas! just like the real fight! It's fun, but it's still far from perfection.
