  1. Since I am not a wrestling fan at all I really couldn’t appreciate some of the finer points of this game including video interviews with some of the real wrestlers themselves or setting up the stats of a user-defined wrestler or the in-depth controls.
  2. My favorite part is the interviews. Around 20 legends talk about the business. [Feb 2003, p.97]

We've got old-school wrestlers with no hint of old-school style.
  4. With all the right elements in place, Legends of Wrestling II had all the makings of a great wrestling title but its faults take away from the fun.
  5. For the most part though there is a clunky feel to the game. Animation is often awkward and fails to convey the vulgar flamboyance the Eighties wrestling became renowned for and sadly for the most part this is a title devoid of excesses.
  6. It's a better overall package than last year's version, but the quest for a truly old-school wrestling game may never really end. [Feb 2003, p.31]
  7. The actual gameplay itself simply doesn't hold up well enough to make any of these modes worthwhile.
  8. Wrestler models are detailed and life-like when standing still, but prone to slowdown and awkward-looking animation when moving.
  9. As the matches drag on, you can't help but to use repetitive moves and you don't have enough control over things to be able to regularly generate positive reactions.
  10. Too slow and clunky, and the load times will put some softcore gamers to sleep. [Feb 2003, p.104]

It's just that LoW2 is missing that certain something … namely compelling gameplay.
  12. "SmackDown" retains the belt.
  13. While the options are bigger this year, I thought last year’s game felt more complete in overall game play.

If you see this game on the shelf, avoid it like the plague. I don’t care how big a fan you are of wrestling or how much you crave nostalgia, because there’s no lust great enough that should convince you to buy or rent this title.
  15. The game is as ugly as the Neanderthal wrestlers in it. Despite this I’ve still noticed it slows down at times.
