Dripping with looks.
-
80While its overall production isn't quite up to the level of "Ace Combat 04," it's technically up to par, and its gameplay is distinctive and entertaining.
-
Where the game stalls is not in what it gives you, but what it doesnt. Maybe its us, but we really enjoyed the mission debriefings that "Ace Combat" offered.
-
74Although the games controls can seem a bit complex and sometimes even a tad frustrating, gamers will have a good time learning as they play.
-
65The biggest problem with Lethal Skies is the consistency of the difficulty level. The game fluctuates between incredibly easy and annoyingly difficult with no rhyme or reason.
-
It could have had more action, a little bit more detail, and most importantly, better control.
-
60Suffers from the duplicity of being designed as a mindless arcade shooter (the linear paths to solving a mission's objective being the biggest giveaway) while being curtailed by restrictions of control and ammunition limitations that seem designed for a simulation.
-
How does this game handle? Well, to quote "Airplane"'s Ted Striker: "Sluggish - like a wet sponge." [July 2002, p.83]
-
Making the gameplay more "realistic" actually averages out to something that's just a tad boring.
-
The game itself seems to suffer from a ridiculous lack of balance. [July 2002, p.100]
-
The game was presented as an action/adventure flight game when it really fits in as more of a limited no frills flight sim.
-
50There's hardly any creativity to hold it together. [June 2002, p. 40]
-
50Lethal Skies attempts to compete with the big fly boys, but with mediocre graphics and sounds, this aerial mishap crashes and burns straight to the bottom of the rental barrel.
-
A quintessentially average game... These particular skies are partly cloudy, with average temperatures. Bring a sweater for later.
-
49This might still cut it if the competition hadn't already pulled ahead, but unfortunately for Asmik, it most emphatically has.
-
The whole package is about as exciting as a flight attendant's safety demonstration. [July 2002, p.115]
