  1. It's certainly worth a spin around the block but I wouldn't be so quick to take a two-week road trip with it.
  2. So much of what made these games great has been lost simply due to the change of venue, and that is truly unfortunate.
  3. There are much better retro compilations available - not least the first two incarnations of Midway Arcade Treasures, which both feature some all-time classics.
  4. I’m not being offered anything new but I’m being asked to buy it anyway, largely because the material has been repackaged There are highlights, of course, but they’re framed by mediocre efforts that turn out to be better in hindsight.
  5. You’re not really going to find the arcade experience here, nor are you going to find the full presentation that you may remember putting quarters in so many years ago.
  6. If this collection had more games and a much better presentation to go along with it, it would have been much more attractive and easily-recommended.
  7. So many of the games included here relied so heavily on custom arcade hardware that they lose much of their appeal in the translation.
  8. Boils down to this: if you like Midways racing games, you're going to really enjoy this. If you're not a big fan of racing games or Midway, this probably isn't even going to grab your attention.

A pretty good collection with a nice mixture of old to help complement the new. [Dec 2005, p.132]

With MAT 3, the definition of treasure is stretched thin enough to cover the distance from, say, New York to Disappointmentvile. [Oct 2005, p.70]
  11. Race Drivin' was one of the earliest 'real' driving simulators but doesn't remotely stand the test of time. It's deadly slow and bereft of any excitement whatsoever. Unfortunately this describes most of the games on this disc.
