  • Summary: With over ten different exciting game modes including the traditional Practice, Exhibition, League and Home Run Challenge modes, MLB Power Pros 2008 brings fans closer to the action than ever before. Gamers also get the opportunity to act as general manager and control the destiny of their own franchise in Season mode, or engage in entertaining role-playing story modes such as Success and MLB Life modes. As general manager, gamers can trade, sign free agents, coordinate practice schedules, purchase new equipment, call up and send down players from the Minor Leagues, along with other management options to bring in fans, win playoff games and eventually, earn the title of World Series champion. In Success mode, fans can participate in a story-based career of rising players in the Double-A Minor League system trying to improve their baseball skills and make an impression on baseball scouts while also having to balance various situations in their personal lives. Through a variety of amusing training and game challenges, players who complete Success mode can take their created player files into MLB Life as well, or also play as either an existing Major League Baseball player in Dream Mode, or start as a rookie in Major League Career mode. As a new feature in MLB Power Pros 2008, MLB Life is another story-based mode that allows fans the possibility to simulate the exciting life and experience of being a Major League Baseball player over the course of a 20-year career. While continuing to play in games through the regular baseball season, players also participate in a number of realistic situations such as signing contracts, purchasing houses and cars, making charitable donations, building up relationships with friends and teammates, picking up hobbies and much more. Not much has changed since last year, but what HAS was done so for the better.
  2. It's simple, yet deep; goofy, yet realistic. By straddling these contradictions, MLB Power Pros 2008 manages to appeal to casual and hardcore players alike. It doesn't step far from its predecessor's shadow, but that doesn't prevent it from shining.
  3. Good, simple baseball is fun for parties and special occasions, though it becomes a bit repetitive when played solo for extended periods of time.
  4. It’s probably worth the purchase if you’ve got a kid who happens to be a big baseball fan, and that means that 2K and Konami hit their goal. …kind of.
  5. Altogether, I enjoyed MLB Power Pros for the PS2, but I don't think it's a perfect casual game experience. It still straddles the line between hardcore and casual, and it occasionally dips too far into either side to be enjoyed by everyone
  6. While Power Pros 2008 offers an undeniably massive amount of modes and options at a terrific $20 price, we could’ve easily waited until next spring for a truer, fuller follow-up.
  7. MLB Power Pros 2008 sits and stares you down from the television like a catcher who gives his pitcher bad signals.

I've spent a couple days playing an advance copy of this game from a relative who works for 2K. This game is a step up from the amazing original MLB Power Pros! It's quirky and cartoony, yet the most realistic and detailed baseball game I've ever played. I haven't even tried the MLB Life or enhanced Success mode yet. The gameplay is amazing...I can't get enough of this game! After years of playing baseball video games, this is the best one of them all! Expand

A game that means alot to me.
A game make me a Baseball fan.
And it want me to play real baseball!
MLB Power Pros 2008 is THE game that
    introduced me to Baseball.
It definitely looked strange for its art style but it got some kind of a very powerful and strange charm to the characters it looks kiddie friendly that's for sure but deep down inside there's a sign of integrity
naive, professionalism, determination, sportsmanship courage and will to be the best player in them.
But undeniably cute just to look at and the real magic happens when you play a match they come alive
    and pumped you keep playing!
All your dreams to be success in Baseball will all be come true and fulfill here.
Want to experience the journey to be a player? Go to Success mode.
Wanna to live a baseball life of your favorite player go to MLB life mode.
Want to create your very own team? go to arrange mode.
Wanna be a manager to control the whole team go to League mode. It's a Baseball game for life, you just don't play this game, you live with it!

I checked this game out at E3. I was a huge fan of the first game...this one is even better and a must have for any baseball fan! So, I still buy an occasional PS2 game...whenever a new Power Pros comes out. Expand

This is a great game. It's packed with baseball realism and quirky fun. I wish there was a bit more enhancements and quirks than what's been added since last year's Power Pros. And Tim Lincecum's delivery isn't as authentic as most others are! I'm hoping for a ps3 version next year!! Expand
