A totally new game. Unfortunately, it lacks the depth of the other games here, and therefore won't satisfy hardcore baseball fans. [Apr 2003, p.64]

It's too hard to steal bases against the computer and throw computer stealers out. Computer batters are far too patient at the plate... It is worth checking out.

It'll take some getting used to, but but for the first time, a game has made pitching as much fun as hitting. [Apr 2003, p.96]
  4. If you can get past some of MVP’s fielding glitches, and appreciate this offensive driven baseball title, then you will be in for a delightful surprise this season.

With more options and extensive play modes (such as a fantasy draft or minor league system), fewer restrictions placed on defense, and the added ability to tweak computer AI, this series can help set a new benchmark.

The game will probably be remembered the same way that the original Tecmo Bowl was. It was a fun game with revolutionary features at the time, but in the end it will be known for some underdeveloped features that were corrected and surpassed in later versions.
  7. The fielding still needs some work, animation could use a bit more variety, and there should be more extensive modes and features, such as an ability to tweak computer AI so players can fine-tune problem areas. This game is a definite hit, but it’s a few yards short of a home run.

The pitching interface is the best by far...the homerun showdown is awesome...the fielding has a few annoying glitches...but so do most games. Yea its hard to get strikeouts IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO PLAY BASEBALL...so all you reviewers stop whining about how hard it is to throw strikeouts and learn to play baseball. Full Review »

The computer dives and jumps for you. It it not as difficult to strike people out as others may say. The trick is to paint the corners and change speeds. The camera angle from the pitchers mound is fantastic. Full Review »
