  1. The only thing a causal fan will appreciate is they toned down the excruciatingly annoying soundbites. That, we do applaud.

Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 simply repeats a lot of the mistakes of its predecessor and proves that it wasn’t just the escort missions holding Uzumaki Chronicles back: it was an overall flawed design.

We recommend that only the most dedicated, noble, selfless, and utterly brave Naruto fans try this game out.
  4. It does lack that touch of genius that Nintendo brought to its Pokemon series, but for what the final product represents and whom it will appeal to, the match is ideal.
  5. Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK
The weakest title yet from the Naruto series. It feels unsurprisingly familiar, and lacks any real punch. [Apr 2008, p.82]
  6. One of Naruto's more disappointing adventures.
  7. Games Master UK
A huge-sized actioner best enjoyed in co-op for double the carnage. [May 2008, p.77]
  8. Play Magazine
Now, with sharpened graphics, more features, and an original story, Uzumaki Chronicles is fine for fans of the series. But the battles are a little stiff, and the relationships between locations, characters, and events would be confounding to Naruto newbies. [Sept 2007, p.74]
  9. PSM Magazine
Doesn't hold a candle to the fun-filled action of the Naruto anime or manga. [Oct 2007, p.84]
  10. Not a real strong contender in the Naruto franchise, but it will probably be a hit with kids who watch the TV show. For all others, it's probably best to rent before you buy.
  11. The Naruto license does little to compensate for this forgettable brawler's undemanding combat and tedious story.
  12. This franchise is quickly heading for the bottom. This is one of the few second installment to expand on the original in more than just character selection. Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 is for serious fans only.
  13. But fan feelings about the story aside, the narrative isn't the only part of this game that doesn't do the source material justice. The gameplay is pretty bad too.
  14. Sadly, Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 is a button-masher devoid of all the things we love about the show or fighting games in general.

This might make a good present for your nephew's upcoming birthday, but for those looking for a good Naruto game worth sinking your teeth into, you're better off plunking down for one of the Ultimate Ninja games.
  16. 50
Despite a well-developed combat system, Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 is a generic beat ‘em up title with minimal redeeming features. Unless you liked the first game, there are better Naruto titles available that offer a more pleasing experience.
  17. PSM3 Magazine UK
It's still wonky like a broken seesaw. [May 2008, p.79]
  18. This game is pretty much a train wreck from start to finish.
  19. 30
A tedious, repetitive brawler with atrocious production.
  20. Despite its overpowering shortcomings, the game is still a Naruto game through and through. Strictly for the Naruto-minded.
  21. At the end of the day Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles 2 just isn't all that much fun and doesn't go out of its way to build upon the last iteration in this continuing series.

It's got it's own original story, several different modes and a good selection of fan favorite characters, but the game play is extremely flawed making this game an experience only enjoyable to the most hardcore of fans. So if your a fan who's willing to overlook the many flaws this game has get it, if not don't get it, it's as simple as that. Full Review »

Story Flow is a little to sketchy. Other than that GREAT GAME TO BUY.

It gave you a RPG-esque leveling system, which, while slow, helped you out as your levels remained the same after story mode.

The missions were actually the most realistic I've seen. It's not the standard "help your neighbors with their trash" missions you'd see in something like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, or something like that. Nope, they're all combat based missions, which are a lot more enjoyable. Even the escort missions, which says a lot.

The combat system, while not perfect, is a little satisfying, especially after you slowly gain levels. Nothing feels better than being able to spam shadow clones after *SPOILER ALERT* you unlock the infinite chakra *SPOILER OVER*.

Unlockables? I won't give away much, but the game gives you a VERY good reason to replay the story mode a few times. All I'll say is that it gives you an additional story sequence, and an additional character that you may or may not like/hate.

The item system is actually well thought out. Most items that you pick up ACTUALLY have a purpose. This, along with the equippable items (also well thought out) make it an enjoyable experience.

Also, a boss mode. Yeah, they have that. It's pretty fun, and it's also one more mode than other Naruto games.

Also, Co-op. Yep! Most things in the game allow co-op! It may not be the best, especially with camera angles, but the co-op battle mode itself is rather enjoyable.

The only real negatives that I can think of, are your standard ones. One, the voice actors. *shudders*. Yeah, we have the standard whiny Naruto as usual. Can't be avoided. Luckily, skippable cutscenes (I think). Two, loading times. They are a little lengthy, but they let you do this little spinny thing with the loading wheel...look, it gives you chakra, alright?

Also, the story mode has a story. Sort of. It's a little different, which could be a good thing.

All in all, it is REALLY fun. I've played maybe 5-6 other Naruto games, and this one easily is the best out of all of them. I would highly recommend it.
