  1. The faces are the truest recreation of NBA stars I've seen, though the big heads do look a little out of place on the equally outlandish bods.
  2. As a single player game it can become pretty infuriating having to put up with the computer AI.
  3. A fun game, but is it the best 3D update to the classic NBA Jam? No -- and it's not as good as many of the 2D incarnations either.
  4. The game's greatest shortcoming, however, is that this style of over-the-top gameplay hasn't evolved much from Midway's own "NBA Jam" or "NBA Showtime" titles.
  5. "NBA Showtime" fans may enjoy Hoopz, but the game would have benefited from an honest-to-goodness arcade mode and a speed setting, if not faster overall gameplay.
  6. It had a proven track record of great arcade basketball gaming behind it, and although it is entertaining, this year’s offering fails to live up to that legacy.
  7. Having fun is great, but the rest of the package isn't as alluring as a sparkling new PS2 title should be.
  8. A multi-player friendly exercise in acrobatic lunacy and dunking maneuvers.
  9. A tired genre makes its first zombie steps onto the PS2. It's time for a rethink.
  10. 40
Only if you're desperate, really, really desperate. But if you were looking forward to a new kind of game, a fun, arcade-style hoops game that will really open your eyes, wait for "NBA Street."
