  • Summary: Drawing characters from some of SNK's biggest and well loved franchises, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum allows the use of the new 2–on–2 Tag Team battle system. This new system allows the player to switch characters during play and to perform ‘team’ attacks on their opponent. The character roster has 40 characters represented by well known faces from the likes of World Heroes, Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, Last Blade, Metal Slug and Kizuna Encounter. 1. While the presentation, gameplay and character selection is a bit better in KoF XI, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum is still a fantastic game, especially for the low budget price (usually between $15 - $20 US.)
  2. It's a celebration of all you hold dear, you crazed fanboy/fangirl, you.
  3. Despite the graphical shortcomings, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum is still a good fighting game.
  4. 70
A good port of one of the best 2D fighters in the last couple of years. The only new thing it brings to the table is novelty, but with solid mechanics and visuals it's worth a look for fighting fans anyway.
  5. There’s not too much to the game besides the few modes, and though the character selection screen is certainly filled with choices, it’ll still be quite obvious that you’re playing in the same modes over and over again.
  6. As a starting point for those who want eccentric characters to get stuck into without being overwhelmed by the gameplay, this is as good as the genre offers. [Dec 2006, p.126]
  7. As a combat swansong for the PS2 it holds no merit whatsoever and shows how bad games can get when a company just doesn’t seem to care any more. It’s not the worst fighting game ever, but it’s certainly close.
