  1. The best parts of the graphics are all the taunts and celebrations the players do in between plays, and there are plenty.
  2. Able to capture the style of gameplay that has achieved past glory for the series, graphics respectable for next generation consoles have been included taking the experience to the next level.
  3. The best Blitz title since the original hit the arcade scene some five years ago.
  4. Blitz old-timers will balk at the game's completely different timing and needlessly expanded playbooks, but in the end, NFL Blitz 2002 is the best arcade-style football game on the home market.

Has everything an arcade football nut would want. The gameplay is great, the graphics are incredible, the cheerleaders are cute, and it's an all around blast.
  6. It badly needed some revamping, and that's exactly what has been successfully done here, without losing the magic that made Blitz what it was...it's the best extreme football game available today.
  7. From your first game to your last Blitz is full of surprises and twists with its very aggressive style.

A must-own for any fan of the original series. This is a huge upgrade in the graphics department, and the gameplay is solid as ever.
  9. A good, enjoyable experience for people who just want to beat each other up, and are unconcerned with rules, penalties, or fairness.

Midway did an excellent job of retaining the old Blitz flair and trademark never-say-die-gameplay while introducing more players, tons of killer animation, and funnier commentary. [May 2002, p.108]

Flaws aside, this is a multiplayer dream. [Apr 2002, p.105]
  12. There's really not much to it, especially in the game mode department, and the enjoyment of playing single-player wears off quickly because of this. They obviously focused on making the actual game play the best part of the game and therefore they've been successful.
  13. If (or more likely when) the price on this game drops to Greatest Hits level, it should be a perfect impulse buy.
  14. Though improvements are obvious in the looks, the controls leave a bit to be desired.
