An outstanding title that can do it all.
Easily the smoothest PS one hockey experience and it was the first to truly tackle realistic puck physics like deflections and tip-ins. [Nov 2001, p.50]
It shows a lot more polish and precision than previous versions, and will give you hours of hard checking NHL and international team competition.
The all new draft and practice modes allow the armchair coach and manager in all of us to experience the pressure of running an NHL hockey team.
If you're looking for arcade hockey or you're into simulation games, FaceOff 2001 delivers both packages fairly well with all sorts of customizable options to tweak the game to your liking.
I was extremely disappointed in the lack of real improvements to the newest Faceoff game, as I almost always am.

Summary If you own either of the past two renditions of NHL FaceOff, you really have no reason to pick up 2001.
