Great course diversity and a choice of four vehicle classes should motivate players to ignore the initial frustration and get to the good stuff.

I've played this game on my Laptop recently after sawing Pixel_Thing videos history about Dakar Racing Video Games, and his right this game is very unfair, difficult to play, but then I've realized
I'm addicted to this game, the tracks are very well made like many others 2000 era well made games and the addiction came from the journey along the roads finding the right path and I'd really doesn't care about the podium finish
The Adventures of Dakar Racing is solid in this game, if you wanted to play this game, check on archive org.

To be honest, this is one of the few games I played when I was young, I enjoyed every aspect. Remember, this is a PS2 game, and its graphics are fine, any fustration felt by you, is not very understandable. The game is good, I'd recommend it if you can't get any other game. It isn't as bad as it's been painted to be. And make sure, if you're going to write a review, write something actually useful.

All the licenses and potential that Paris-Dakar Rally has as an enjoyable rally experience, however, go to waste in a game that makes the event it portrays seem more boring and dull than it should be.
It takes some special effort to make a game so frustrating in all of its aspects that it seems to have been made by gaming sadists with the express intent to torture innocent gamers.
Regardless of how passionate you are about rally racing, or just the ASO-sponsored event itself, it's doubtful that you'll tolerate Acclaim's mockery of the sport.
It's a totally weak rally game through and through, with bad control, no real sense of rally driving (unless you like to feel completely out of control).
Such a bad game! Its nice that you can choose between different vehicles but the controls are a joke. They behave the same with every vehicle. Its almost unplayable...

Yes, this game is based on the real-life Paris-Dakar Rally. The event is fun, but the game was not (even back in 2001). The controls are awful. There's no real challenge at all. The game offers four vehicle classes, SUVs, bikes, ATVs and buggies. Only one of each class is available from the start, and you don't unlock the rest until you beat the game. But when you do, you've had enough of the game. As I've said, the game was a joke even back then.
