  1. The game is saddled with the same lackluster gameplay that has plagued the entire Army Men series.
  2. 40
With rough textures and flat prerendered backgrounds, Portal Runner looks like a late-generation PlayStation title rather than a second-generation PS2 effort. It plays even worse.
  3. It's got some nice CGI and a few neat lighting effects here and there, but with control issues, lame multiplayer and boring level design it's pretty obvious that the curse has struck again.
  4. Electronic Gaming Monthly
The game will keep youngins busy, but if any gamer over the age of 10 gets stuck playing this thing, well, that’s gotta hurt! [Nov 2001, p.210]
  5. 3DO, you cannot trick us, this is ANOTHER Army Men game, now vying for the Lara vote with a feisty new heroine.
  6. Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
It's clunky and frustrating due to its awful controls. [Nov 2001, p.160]
  7. Vicki is no Lara Croft and unfortunate[ly] for 3DO she's not even close.

Great fun game shame about the toy twist, but it can be easily over looked. Great for all Lara fans.
