It's obvious that Puzzle Quest was originally intended as a portable game and if you pick up any of the non portable versions of Puzzle Quest it would be best if you play it in small chunks. When played on the side or on the go Puzzle Quest is a very enjoyable time killer. However, if you play it for long stretches repetition will set in very quickly, followed by madness, depression, and a smell of fried eggs. Unless your someone with an OCD style attachment to bejeweled you might want to avoid the home console ports of this game and pick it up for a portable time killer. Not picking it up is certainly a good option too as there are many vastly better puzzle games you could be investing your time in. Expand

I found Puzzle Quest deeply satisfying and appealing to my slight sense of obsessive compulsive (disorder). Variability seems pretty open along an interesting story line. Character trait development is almost wide open. I had to physically get rid of the game in order to stop replaying it...

The unlikely marriage of puzzle gameplay with RPG mechanics makes for one of the most addictive experiences of the year.

The PlayStation 2 version of Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords comes highly recommended, even if it's not the most attractive version available. The Xbox Live version, and even the PSP version with its annoying bugs are better looking versions of the same game, but you can't lose with any choice you make.
  3. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is not a hard game to recommend and you should really run out and get it if you have a PS2 and no other system. This game has been through a whirlwind of praise and this version is no different.
