An immensely good time. And because the game is so beautifully crafted, deep with scenarios, long and filled with various challenges, weapons and gadgets, it's a winner.
  2. A fantastic platformer in every way and qualifies as one of the best games the genre has seen since consoles went polygonal.
  3. The detail that went into the worlds and fluidity of the character movements are towering achievements that have no rival. [Dec 2002, p.114]

R & C's innovation comes in the form of all those crazy, non-gimmicky weapons and tools. This is a complex, polished platform gaming machine.
  5. Ratchet and Clank might have some of the most impressive environments yet in a game of this type.
  6. Revamping the action platformer genre with plenty of action, wacky, impressive gadgets and an interesting storyline, this is what the future of action games should be.
  7. Nothing riotously new, but as any gear-head can tell you: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  8. Control in the game is excellent, and you'll never walk off a ledge because the controller is slow to respond.
  9. I would dare say this is the best Playstation 2 game I have played this year. It is somewhat easy, but it is also a very long game.
  10. With beautifully realised fantasy words to explore and depth that belies its surface-sweetened nastiness, this is one that will satisfy all who feel the need for unbridled platform action. And attitude.
  11. Plenty of other platformers can boast similar features - but few have pulled them all together the way that Ratchet & Clank has. [Dec 2002, p.166]
  12. Although nothing new, the gameplay is polished and refined and even begin to warm to the charismatic characters.
  13. Ambitiously designed, expertly constructed. Most importantly, its gameplay has been tuned to perfection. Give it a try - it's one of the PS2's best games. [Dec 2002, p.34]
  14. The control of the characters in the game could not be tighter.
  15. The worlds are visually wonderful and detailed. While the game is somewhat linear and task oriented, the worlds have an openness about them so that you don’t feel trapped like you do in many games.
  16. The perfect example of what a game should be. With its rich cast of characters, deep gameplay, gorgeous graphics and wonderful soundtrack, R&C packs the ingredients to a perfect platformer and combines them perfectly.
  17. Rarely does a 3D action game become more fun to beat after its been completed a first or second time. That’s exactly what R&C and its truckload of gizmos delivers.
  18. The graphics, the busy environments, the interactivity... every element taken by itself it pretty praiseworthy, stick 'em all on the same disk and they add up to good things.
  19. One of the best platformers to hit the PS2, ever.
  20. 100
There is a decidedly cool sense of style to Ratchet & Clank. The game feels much like the classic sci-fi movies, very rounded and artistic, almost retro at times.
  21. A gaming masterpiece... Combines action, platforming, and RPG elements convincingly, creating one of the best platformers in recent memory.
  22. More than compensating for the cliched plot and characters are the polished gameplay and arsenal of unique weapons. [22 Nov 2002, p.85]
  23. The visuals and audio, mixed with the solid gameplay make for a very enjoyable experience that shouldn’t be passed up by anyone.
  24. Visually, Ratchet & Clank is awesome. The immense levels are teeming with life. Outside of the basic minions you have to deal with, many levels are packed to the gills with life.
  25. It definitely beats "Sly Cooper," its semi-brother "Jak and Daxter," and even other-platform platformers (pun intended) in most categories.
  26. Don't get me wrong, Ratchet and Clank is an awesome platformer in length and gameplay and just about everything, just I preferred "Sly Cooper’s" gameplay more.
  27. Insomniac has raised the classic platform standards, set up by legendary gaming heroes such as Sonic and Mario, onto a new, higher level in this wonderful adventure for all ages.

This is without a doubt one of the best platforming games I have played in all my years of gaming. From the creators of Spyro the Dragon (which is another great platform/adventure game) brings you two new characters, Ratchet who is a lombax and Clank who is a robot. The chemistry between these two are great and their voices are brilliant including clank my personal faviroute. There are other great characters too like Quark, Helga and Drek and their voices are good as well. Gameplay is similar to Spyro, you play as Ratchet mostly and sometimes Clank and your mission is too roam around and defeating all of Drek's minions who have taken over different planets as well as helping out friends who set out tasks for you. Once that is done you will be given coordinates to the next planet where you will fight your way through more enemies and bosses. There are also skill points which can only be earned by completing a secret challenge as well as gold bolts that are located in secret areas. Your first weapon is the wrench but you can buy new weapons from the gadgetron shops. You can get these by collecting lots of bolts which are found by destroying creates and enemies There are some really cool weapons like morph ray, devastator and RYNO which is a faviroute of mine. Ratchet has lots of cool moves and can collect items to perform new ones. Clank has some cool tricks up his sleeve too like a thruster pack, communicating with other robots and when he becomes a giant, then you just smash your way through everyone while blasting them with rockets. Graphically this game is perfect, each level has some amazing layouts and backgrounds from a great distance. Frame rate is fine and there is plenty of gameplay in this too, so you won't be disappointed. I can honestly say this is without a doubt one of the best platform/adventure games I have ever seen on the PS2. Full Review »

Such great memories! I loved these games so much, I can't praise this enough for any kid under 16 :)
I think it should be pretty fun for an
adult as well, but I wouldn't know. Great story, amazing gameplay, overall very balanced and fun game. Full Review »
