  • Summary: Earth. Twenty-second century. Five years after the rebellion on Mars. For 15 years, Chancellor Victor Sopot has oppressed the people of the Commonwealth. His corrupt rule and a relentless war of unification with the United Republic has left the Commonwealth bloodied and impoverished. As distant battles rage, sewage taints Sopot City's rivers, pollution smudges the sky, and wretched citizens huddle in crumbling ruins. Condemned to death by Chancellor Sopot, six super-soldiers unite to save their country, vowing to overthrow Sopot using the unique powers that nano-technology has given them. Join the squad as Alias, a demolitions expert. Fight side-by-side with Molov, Repta, Shrike, Tangier, and Quill--each possessing unique attributes and specialties. Battle through diverse environments using vehicles, an arsenal of specialized weapons, and explosives in a mission to overthrow the government. Defeat Sopot and restore the honor of the Commonwealth! The game looks ten times more impressive that its predecessor, and really outshines almost any other console first-person shooter on the market right now. Explosions look extremely realistic, and the enemies are modeled and rendered pretty well.
  2. It's still great, but I felt that the original Red Faction was a bit more engaging.
  3. An enjoyably brainless, highly destructive romp. It doesn't offer anything new but it does do everything well. [PSM2]
  4. The sequel just seems to abandon all of what I thought made the original unique and special, and has in effect become just another pretty face in a crowded genre.

I was expecting a lot more from this title after all the hype it had received, and after being pretty impressed with the original, but then again, maybe this ones just not for me. The graphics are good and highly detailed, but everything runs so choppy youll wish they had scaled it down a notch. Given the choice of more detailed enviroments or a faster flowing game i would take the latter everytime. What good is a pretty game if it runs like crap? to its credit though the sound effects music and voice acting are all great, the missions have variety and interesting locales but i just didn't have fun playing them. I'd definitely rent this game before purchasing. Expand

I really enjoyed the first game in the series and thought it was excellent, unfortunately this sequel just played awfully in comparison and was a big disappointment. Expand
