While the PS2 version retains the over-the-top gameplay and appealing characters, the game's visual quality has been compromised somewhat by a fluctuating frame rate, slightly less-detailed textures, and washed-out colors that take away from the game's visual style.
Quite disappointing. It's choppy framerate, second rate graphics, and bland textures affect both gameplay and fun factor. These characters have character, and it simply doesn't show up on the PS2 version.
Essentially SEGA Soccer Slam fails to hit all the marks a fun arcade football game should hit and indeed were hit by Midways superior RedCard. If its a solid and fun arcade kick-about youre after then plump for Midways game as Soccer Slam is best avoided.
