  • Summary: A new threat to Japan's Capital calls for the return of its case-solving, tube-slinging Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha the 14th. When a woman walks into the Narumi Detective Agency and asks to find a man, Raidou's boss is reluctant to accept, but soon it's clear there's more to the case than it seems on the surface. It isn't long before Raidou is on the trail of crooked gamblers, masked ninja, and strange insects... a trail leading him inexorably to the mysterious King Abaddon. Massively upgraded battle system - Advancements to the battle mechanics include a MAG balancing system, dodge and hide abilities, and the ability to command two demons in combat. Use the retooled Weapon Alchemy system to create new swords with unique special attacks. Deeper demon integration - Demon negotiation returns with more than twice the number of demons to attempt to recruit to your side. Create more powerful demons through fusion and skill transfer. Control two demons in battle and choose from more tactical options. [Atlus USA] Expand

While virtually identical to its predecessor, the total revamp of the battle system makes Devil Summoner 2 more than "more of the same."
  2. Devil Summoner 2 might not have as many redeeming qualities as some of the later Persona titles, and it might not even tie the two chunks of the game together as well as those titles do either, but that doesn't mean that the entire game isn't a solid investment from the moment that it starts.
  3. If you can overcome navigating pre-rendered backgrounds and enduring countless random battles, Devil Summoner 2 turns out to be an enjoyable experience.

  1. For those who played the last one will notice everything from has been vastly improved. The great characters and interesting environments return, the dialogue has been improved with choices that actually mean something although their effects are limited. Like last game it can be beat in a weekend making replay runs not all that tedious. Combat has been improved and you can use two demons in battle instead of one. Demon fusing also had an upgrade and it's very easy to get almost any demon overpowered moves making it a little bit too easy once you learn how to abuse the demon fusing. However the real test lies in completing the optional cases. The story like most Shin Megami Tensei games is suburb and there is very little wrong with it. However combat while fun can become dull and some dungeons are a choir to go through. Not to mention you'll see a lot of insects, but it's still a fun little game that will easily make for an enjoyable weekend. Expand
