While virtually identical to its predecessor, the total revamp of the battle system makes Devil Summoner 2 more than "more of the same."
A deep, engaging experience, with a captivating plot and a great combat system. If your PS2 is sitting in a closet somewhere it’s time to dig it out, because the system’s got one more must-play RPG.

This has to be one of the best stm series ever produced, the combat was fun and so much variation of demon we can use and combine, the story is darker, only for those who understand the artistic of this game would appreciate it

For those who played the last one will notice everything from has been vastly improved. The great characters and interesting environments return, the dialogue has been improved with choices that actually mean something although their effects are limited. Like last game it can be beat in a weekend making replay runs not all that tedious. Combat has been improved and you can use two demons in battle instead of one. Demon fusing also had an upgrade and it's very easy to get almost any demon overpowered moves making it a little bit too easy once you learn how to abuse the demon fusing. However the real test lies in completing the optional cases. The story like most Shin Megami Tensei games is suburb and there is very little wrong with it. However combat while fun can become dull and some dungeons are a choir to go through. Not to mention you'll see a lot of insects, but it's still a fun little game that will easily make for an enjoyable weekend.

That small matter aside, Atlus once again proves that they are the publisher who takes care of their fans—Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 – Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon is another more addition to a long string of superior RPGs, and a solid reason to stay in the last generation just a little bit longer.
Overall, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 is an interesting and complex title with scads of replay value and an impressive level of depth.
Devil Summoner 2 is a huge improvement over the first and another great installment in the Shin Megami Tensei series that both newcomers and series veterans can enjoy.
If you don't mind the repetitious text and the somewhat bland demon mechanics, Devil Summoner 2 can actually be a lot of fun and has the potential for some serious level-grinding, which is always a strangely rewarding element in the RPG landscape.
MegaTen's experiment in action role-playing continues, but it remains a flawed and repetitive ride.
Not bad, I think it's on the same level as the first game but has some improvements in gameplay.
