Shrek the Third isn’t a bad game; it’s an unpolished one. For the millions upon millions of movie-goers this summer, Shrek will work great as a compliment to the experience, though we can’t endorse it any further than a weekend rental.
  2. While there are certainly worse movie-license games out there, Shrek the Third still feels slapdash and thoughtless, plus its function to entertain is overwhelmed by its function to make money.
  3. This button-mashing brawler offers decent combat functionality, yet cannot deliver one adversary that you would actually feel good about punching…unless you get a kick out of clocking knights that are as passive as Buddhist monks.
  4. There are several attempts at greatness, like the mini-games that can be enjoyed with your friends. Yet, the mini-games are more of a distraction than anything else.

While the combat is simple, the presentation unpolished, and a clear lack of co-op hurts the replayability, the core game is still tons of fun to play and gamers looking for a mindless beat-em-up will find plenty to love in Activision’s latest iteration in the Shrek franchise.
  6. Poorly slapped together in some aspects, awkward dialog and delivery noticeably mar Shrek the Third.
  7. If I was forced to choose a version out of these three I'd go with the Xbox 360 version simply because it looks better and nearly matches the level of visual quality found in the film.
  8. It's easily the worst of the summer trilogy titles (Pirates, Spidey, Shrek), which is sort of apt, seeing as how it was also the worst among the competing trilogy movies. Poor visuals, dated gameplay, and horrible audio really make this one a game to avoid.
  9. The PS2 version is the worst of the bunch, with incredibly lackluster visuals and gameplay seemingly stolen straight from God of War. In addition, numerous glitches plague the game, further ruining the experience. Everyone should stay away.

Its unique sense of humor and well-rounded characters make this one to consider for a kid's birthday present. [Aug 2007, p.91]

With its short play time, and lacking mini games, it won’t take the average gamer more than a few days to get their fill of Shrek, Donkey, and Puss.
  12. If you’re a fan of the Shrek movies, there is some fun to be had here. Granted, it’s forgettable and uninspired fun that fades pretty quickly, but it’s still fun for that short while.

The graphics were good, playing the game was decent and the story was alright. I reckon this game pleased massive Shrek fans at the time and I admit it did partially please me. But I also definitely remember it having parts which on the other hand were boring, empty and forgettable.

To sum up, it was a decent game but far from being a world-beater. Expected really, for this franchise.

You run around famous Shrek-releated landscapes, beating up bad guys and collecting coins to buy power ups. You can run past most of the enemies, which is really handy if you're just rushing through the game. There's also some innuendo (which gave this game a PG rating in the UK) to keep the adults entertained, but even that didn't make me enjoy the game.

The Shrek 2 (PS2/Xbox) game is ways better than this. I recommend you to stick to that.
