    Poor, no depth. You play first to win three games and not even one set... I got to the semi-final on me first try. I wouldn't even give this game away as a gift.

    A decent enough tennis game but unfortunately Namco have tried to dress it up too much. Rather than just playing tennis in the tournament mode you have to do certain challenges. For instance; scoring four points with volley shots in a game will give you more money? Why? Surely winning a match should mean you get prize money, the fashion that you did it in should not matter. If this were the case in true tennis than Pistol Pete Sampras wouldn't have earnt half of what he has. This game also lacks characters you can either be four men or four women, (listed above) which means during tournament mode in the first and second rounds you play no-hopers with names like 'Red Rage' or summit. This enables you to win the first two matches but when you face Sampras in the Q/F he thrashes you. I was going to give this game a 4 but since writing this, all SCTPT's faults have been brought to the forefront of my mind. Buy it and be disappointed! … Expand

    I'll try to keep Virtua Tennis out of this. The menu and selection interface is confusing - I don't know how to move through the game. A fun game still, I'm just trying to get used to it (I just love Virtua Tennis). What's interesting is that it's littered with common objects from other video games - such was winning camera angles or tennis player photos (kind of like Sould Caliber on Dreamcast). All I'm waiting for now is an improvement in its sequel. I loved Virtua Tennis, but I left him for my new lover, Tennis 2K1.… Expand

    I think that this is a really fun game to play and th graphics are ACE. but it would have been better if there was more players to choose from

    I think the gameplay and the level of the AI is awesome. I think the graphics could be much better and smoother. Can't wait for the sequel. I have Virtua Tennis 2 (T2K2), I also think it is a great game, but it's to easy to win. Also T2K2 doesn't have the real grand slams in it. Anyway if you like a challenge and are prepared to out smart the computer with tatics and real tennis then BUY THIS GAME! Namco hurry up with Smash Court 2 ! … Expand

    Some clumsy colouring on the USA courts also means the ball can often get lost on screen making returns a gamble. Add in waif-like character models and it can often become a chore to keep an eye on the action.
