  • Summary: Battle through 12 single player missions in three new, heavily researched Areas of Operation – each up to five times as large as past SOCOM AO’s. Utilize land vehicles and watercraft to traverse the terrain. Everything from a turret-equipped pickup to SEAL-team configured Humvee to the SOC-R Assault Boat are available. Pilot strikeboats along waterways for waterborne assaults and use swimming/water for cover and stealth ops. Defeat the world’s terrorists with over 30 highly configurable weapons – for a total of up to 950 total weapon configurations. A SOCOM-compatible headset can be used to communicate verbally with fellow team members during online games, either in game or in the main lobby. Improved voice recognition commands greatly assist tactical options. Lead your SEAL team into firefights in single player mode or battle online with up to 32 players per map (with up to 4 spectators). Compatible with SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo (PSP title). 1. The controls are tight, the action tense and the graphics crisp. And, most importantly, lag was rarely an issue, even in 32-player firefights.
  2. One of the best games in the crowded squad-based war genre. It has a few off and online glitches and bugs, but overlooking them there's a ton of authentic and addictive war gaming to be had.
  3. 90
The bigger environments and drivable vehicles are both welcomed additions to the series. The only let down is poor enemy A.I. in the single player missions but these are forgivable once you start playing multiplayer.
  4. It's sad that two years after SOCOM II, the A.I. has improved so little. Ditto for the graphics.
  5. A very competent online shooter with some excellent features that can be extremely fun if you play it with the right people. Once again though, we must stress that we can’t recommend this game on the basis of its offline content alone.
  6. Online play would score high 80s but offline SOCOM 3 is an average squad shooter that treads the same tired path as many before it. [PSM2]
  7. It's like any flat stretch of road in the country, nice and smooth with some decent scenery that gets you where you have to go. [Jan 2006, p.89]

This game is godly. It has large combat with vehicles and small combat with no vehicles giving you the best of both worlds. The only downside is some of the small maps are poorly designed, but most of them are great and so much fun. Very challenging and tactical game modes too. Expand

I believe the graphics arent that great, but they really dont have to be great to make it a great game. Online is very fun, and will be much better when the first patch comes out i hope. (I think the reason the graphics arent what all of u hoped them to be is to help reduce lag, which i am 100% in favor for) Expand

Too many silencers!! Ask I guy serving in the military if have the foe he encounters has silenced weapons...the lags there, dont let people kid u..u can see the frame rate slow down. Game does improve some things from S2. The vehicles are more fun than I thouguht. But as a loyal Socomer I actually played the Battlefield 2 demo and liked it better! Expand

I've owned a Socom game since the day the original Socom was released. I can't believe I'm saying this but this game isn't fun. Take it from me. I would rent this before buying. Graphics are hard to look at.They are maybe a step above the original Tomb Raider. Game play has changed dramatically from S2. Zipper dropped the ball on this one. But then again they made a game for a system that is on it's last legs. Expand
