  1. A great game and I think it is safe to say that the long wait for a new Sonic game is finally over, and it was well worth the wait!

It's way too easy to dash off a cliff into an instant death, which seems totally out of place these days.

Gamers who haven't exactly stuck by Sonic's blurry blue side over the years will have to work a little harder to get to the fun, spastic heart of Sonic Heroes, but those who know what to expect in terms of mechanics and sheer kinetic insanity will feel right at home.
  4. The game is just a mess at most times (besides the graphics and sound), the gameplay has bugs and there are a couple misleading times in the many levels. The game is also sometimes so fast paced that it's impossible to get some vital powerups and items.

As with the previous two 3D Sonic outings, Sonic Heroes is a solid platformer that could've been a lot better if the developers had spent more time balancing the levels and tweaking the unbelievably frustrating camera. [Feb 2004, p.108]
  6. It's also the closest the series has been to its roots in well over a decade.

Its tricks are old and it offers no challenge but for the irksome nuisances of its design. [JPN Import]

I was 5 years old when this game came out and have been playing this game on and off since. Recently, I took a trip down memory lane and realized the game is as good as I remember it being. The game takes place right after Sonic Adventure 2 and Eggman is at it again. This time, you have to use teamwork in order to defeat Eggman. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are in Team Sonic, Shadow, Rouge, and Omega are in Team Dark which is supposed to have more difficult levels but I don't see it, Rose, Big (that annoying cat from SA1), and Cream, and finally there is Team Chaotix which features the characters from Knuckles Chaotix. Vector, Espio and Charmy and this team is my favorite because it focuses on mission styled gameplay. You are able to shift characters by using the triangle and circle button using three formations. Flying, speed, and power. All formations help you throughout the stage. Also, throughout the game there are level ups which increase the power of your attacks. The bosses are pretty memorable too. I find little problems rather than the special stages in which if you do not beat 7 of them, you have to replay through some of the levels and collect the chaos emeralds in order to unlock the final stage. Besides this frustration, the game is very well designed and I find nothing wrong with the graphics for a game made in 2004. This game is the BEST Sonic game in the series EVER. I have no idea why some people say the game sucks while there is barely anything wrong with it. If you like great and unique platforming, this is surely the game for you. Expand

Sonic Heroes, I remember when I first played this, when I was about 7 years old such a brilliant game. I absolutely loved this game. ISonic Heroes, I remember when I first played this, when I was about 7 years old such a brilliant game. I absolutely loved this game. I completed it a few times and I always kept coming back to the game to play the whole thing again because it was a fantastic game. What I enjoyed about it was that you had 4 Teams to choose from with 3 to 4 characters each. I say 4 because on Team Rose you have Amy, Big, Cream and the Chao. I also enjoyed the stages they were very well designed, and the music was amazing. I enjoyed the music from the power plant stage, But the music from all the other stages were also brilliant. The only thing that I didn't like was that the game was really slippery, when you were to move Speed Characters like Sonic, Espio, Shadow and Amy around, they just kept falling of the platforms to an instant death. Sometimes I got glitched out. But other than that the game is brilliant. Expand

This was my very first 3D Sonic game. I really liked it but there are few things that I must point out.
Completing game itself is pretty easy. Getting 100% in game on the other hand is extremely hard. Levels are pretty long compared to previous games in franchise. Also to complete the game you have to complete every single level 4 times. Friends sometimes bug and fly everywhere which makes few optional things very hard to do/get. Also, when I played on PAL signal (50 Hz) controls started to glitch. Whenever I pressed any button game thought that i pressed it twice which was pretty annoying. To not get this glitch you must choose NTSC signal (60 Hz). Music in game is catchy and fits to the game pretty well. Characters move fast, which is a good point. Graphics are quite pretty but in my opinion they're too bright. You shouldn't play this game if you're not a Sonic fan.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love this game I got it when I was seven and I loved it but it would be ten if it certain levels weren't so broken and hard especially with team dark the story is alright but I like how all the motives behind the story are different depending on the team you play as I also didn't find many glitches but the graphics are alright but could have been better compared to what was out at the time Expand

This game rocks. It would have a ten if it wasn't so hard to dunk and rebound.
