An absolute must have for people who liked them back then and if you never actually played them... well, I'll hold back. Just buy this collection.
Despite its exclusions, though, Collection's large selection of titles for $19.99 is a tough thing not to recommend to anyone who calls himself a gamer. Even if a few of the games undeniably suck.

This collection sonic game is amazing. This has all the best and some of the worst sonic games. This game is worth having for sonic fans and non sonic fans!! It's a must buy

I was going to rate the games on here individually but this was where i discovered the games anyway. The older Sonic games are great speed platformers that will always be loved. The other games are not that great, but im not rating this pack based on Robotnic's Mean Bean Machine Looks: Astounding, Sounds: Brilliant, Gameplay: good, Experience: Well worth it

You can't find a better deal than 20 games for 20 dollars. While not every Sonic game is a winner, the majority are. These games, though old, are superior to Sega's more recent 3D Sonic offerings.
If you grew up with these games, they're still a joy to play. New converts t the Sonic fold will get a great introduction to the 'hog's history. [Dec 2004, p.168]
There are some truly magic moments here that transcend nostalgia. Even now, that first time you achieve absolutely blinding speed is exhilarating.

This is a great collection of Sonic! The only bad things are that some of the games included weren't the best to be honest. It's kind of a shame how Sonic CD wasn't included. At least there was a lot of artwork included along the games and that.

For many people my age, our experience with classic games stemed from compilation discs on modern systems. It was the most convenient way to either experience these games for the first time or to relive old memories. Often these collections were just packed with a lot of love and attention to detail that tells you that they cared about these games and they want to give you the very best impression possible. Sonic Mega Collection, originally released for the GameCube, was a prime example. Everything from the menus to the extras to even the music just filled your body with immense amounts of nostalgia, even if you have never grown up with a Sega Genesis.
Mega Collection Plus on the PS2 here is largely the same as its GameCube counterpart, but with a few extra bells and wistles. This was the collection I grew up with, and one I have many fond memories of. I never had a Genesis growing up, but I was a huge fan of Sonic thanks to the cartoons and Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, so this would be my first time playing many of these games. The game selection itself is impressive. Pretty much every major Sonic game is available along with a few other obscure Genesis titles, and the emulation for each of the games is solid for the most part. Though not every game is a banger, it's just fun to browse through each one and see what they're all about. The only real detriment to this collection is the omission of certain titles like Sonic CD or Sonic R (both of which got reased in their own seperate collection). Like the original release you can also find all of the original manuals to these games, various covers to Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics and a WIP animatic to the then up and coming Sonic Heroes.
If you have yet to experience the original classic Sonic games, or are looking to scratch your 90s nostalgic itch, Mega Collection Plus is absolutely a must have.

Mega Collection Plus features several of the games that are considered to be the greatest to be some of the greatest Sonic games ever made, from the original Sonic to Sonic & Knuckles. Not having had the chance to experience them on their original platforms, Mega Collection Plus was a great opportunity that allowed for me to play through these classic titles. However, some of the games included such as Sonic 3D Blast felt like they were just there to fill space. Overall, this is definitely a game that all Sonic fans should try, as it allows modern fans that may not have grown up with the older titles, to realize for themselves why these titles are regarded so well by many.

This game (or collection disc) is a must have for all the people who didn't have a chance to play the classic sonic games. If you don't have this game, I would recommend getting it. Most of the classic sonic games are amazing and putting them into one disc is outstanding enough.

It has a variety of retro Sonic games, good and bad. Pros: A wide selection of additional games, artwork, and extras; it's a nice introduction to the series for unfamiliar gamers. Cons: No Sonic CD; some of the Sonic games range from bad to awful.
