  1. Spider-Man 3 on PS2 is essentially the Wii version without the motion-sensitive control system. The end result is a game that pales in comparison to and would not be a suitable replacement for the next-generation versions.
  2. Vicarious Visions has taken the Wii version of the game which leveraged the control scheme of the system very well, and then ported it to the aging PS2 version. The result is a surprisingly tighter control scheme, but one that is less interactive.
  3. A decent enough action-adventure in the vein of GTA and Crackdown. Spider-Man's web-slinging abilities are depicted very well. Go for the Xbox 360 version, the rest are not worth your time. [June 2007]

While the controls on the PS2 are easily the best out of any of the other console incarnations, they still can't save this game from succumbing to it own horribly boring repetition.
  5. The only decent fights and objectives that are there follow the main storyline like a stalker - everything else is just busywork filler. [July 2007, p.112]
  6. The PlayStation 2 version of Spider-Man 3 is a depressing combination of ugly to look at and dull to play.
  7. The graphics are shocking, the sound does little to add to the experience, the storyline is mediocre and the controls are unfriendly.

Dazzling. Absoloutely dazzling. The story is deep and amazing, though it strays from the movie's plot a little. (But hey, it's a video game, right? ) As for the fighting style, it's even funner then the two first. (Who are also great games.) The boss battles are something I also enjoy. Swinging is something you never get bored of with this game. Web zipping is fun, too. There's some very funny lines thrown into there. Spiderman's got some REALLY good lines, and Bruce Campbell is back as the HILARIOUS sarcastic narrarator guy! The graphics are totally gonna blow your mind, man! The second was really free roaming, right? You enjoyed it a lot, didn't you? YOU WANT MORE, DONTCHA? Well in this game the city is 2.5 times bigger. How's that for free roaming? Overall, the game is worth the money and it's AMAZING! Expand

Totaly overrated, a complete downgrade from Spider-Man 2. The graphics are worse than Spider-Man 2! It also lacks the ragdoll physics Spider-Man 2 had, the citizens look like giant bugs, when you go to the Sky the game looks like Star Fox, for snes! This is just a rushed game for a horrible movie, i rather play Sonic next Gen or SuperMan 64. Expand

Spider-Man 3 isn't as good as Spider-Man 2, but it is still a great game, as far as graphics go it's not as good as other games on the system environments and character models are ok but it haas a more dark vibe to it which makes it not as visually appealing as the previous title was, the sound is good, the controls are great, and the story is good it's got the story based on the movie and it's own unique side stories, the problem with this game is that combat and web slinging aren't as fun as they were in Spider-Man 2, web slinging feels stiff in this game, all in all it's not as good as Spider-Man 2 but it is still a great game. This is visually impressive with some decent action but is ultimatley shallow and a bit of a cash in - a bit like the film. It's also got the most pointless, atmosphere spoiling and downright irritating voice over in the history of computer games. Get Spiderman 2 instead or even Spiderman on the PS1 if you see it going cheap, it's better then this despite it's age. Collapse

To be honest as a huge fan of Spider-man I am just saddened to say that Spider-man 3 was a major let down. First of all nothing much has changed from Spider-man 2 and instead of adding more side stuff they reduced it. Now the side quests just consist of going out there talking to civilians and than beating up criminals, chasing them in a car beating their car and than beating them up and defusing bombs. I gotta admit defusing bombs was kind of cool but also got repetitive really fast. Plus there are no random events in the game unlike Spiderman 2, those random encounters show that any crime can happen in the city at any time and its up to Spider0man to stop it and that actually added to the feel of being spider-man but this game just threw all that out of the water. Plus the game has so many bugs its almost laughable. Ofcourse than comes the main storyline which doesn't exactly follow the movie's story and adds some new and bland villains which nobody really cares about fighting. And compared to spider man 2 once again the story is really short I beat in like 3 hours in one sitting and Spiderman 2 took me like 12 and 13 hours to complete thats how much they toned down and shortened this game and its even shorter for the ps2 it just starts and ends like that. The main missions are nothing great some of them are fun but once again just like the rest of the game they get repetitive really fast. However I still see some good things about this game, the boss battles have been done really well and have been improved from Spider-man 2, but there are not that many boss battles in the game which is sad as they could have really added to the game and the ps2 version has even less boss battles than the ps3 and xbox 360 versions. The game also allows you to put on the black spidey suite which just increases your health and the amount of damage you can inflict and take. Spidey is really waay overpowered when he puts that suit on which really kills any difficulty the game has to offer because if a boss fight or any other fight is going on way to long, you can just push a button and get into the black suite and destroy everyone. The game's music is good and builds up the mood and the voice is unsurprisingly good as it is done by the same actors who acted in the movie. I think the combat and swinging have been made easy and simplified which is not really a problem for me as it is really easy to get used to them unlike Spider-man 2. The graphics are just awful for the ps2, I am sorry they are, the buildings look like large blocks, the character models look wooden and stiff, the animations look really awful. And to be honest this is the first game I have seen in which the cutscenes look worse than the actual game that is just a shame. In the end I must say Spider-man 3 had so much potential and could have been another great movie game like like Spider-man 2 and it could have proven that movie based games can be actually be really good but it is clear that lack of effort was put into making this game as the game clearly seems rushed and considering this was made for a multiple number of consoles that is no surprise. I really wanted to like this game but it is so half a**ed, toned down and unfinished that it is hard for even a huge fan of Spider-man like myself to like it. Sad to say that this game is an insult to the name of Spider-man. 3/10. Expand

Not much great to say about this game. The controls are horrible, the graphics looks pathetic at best. They were better in the first rendition of the Spiderman movie games on both aspects. The only GOOD parts of this game are the facts it's free roaming and that Bruce Campbell is back in this part of the Spiderman saga. I've seen graphics of this calber on PS1 games for god sakes.
