  1. The best racing game of the year..."Gran Turismo 2" and "3" are just as good, but they are definitely not better than Splashdown.
  2. The graphics are fresh and the water effects are fantastic. You’ll find it hard to get bored of this title.
  3. If you like your racing fast, fun, highly controllable and mouth-wateringly gorgeous to look at, however, then this is definitely one title you want to add to your pool of games.
  4. GameCube's Wave Race will receive the hype this holiday season, but Splashdown's sexy curves and what it can do with them are much more appealing to me. [Dec 2001, p.95]
  5. One of the best looking water games with lots of tricky entertainment and wet fun for everyone, newbie and pro, to enjoy.

As long as you don’t mind a slightly more technical feel and a hefty challenge, you’ll find the best thing to happen with jetskis since the N64’s Wave Race.
  7. Each of the 9 riders has their own ending movie which is well worth the effort to unlock.
  8. 88
Highly addictive...Even after having played in the area of 20 hours of this game, I still find myself distracted by just how good it looks.
  9. If you can live with drop dead gorgeous tracks and great physics, you'll find a lot to love in Splashdown.
  10. A game no library should be without. Splashdown is THE game to own for fast-paced purified racing graphical gaming goodness.

Splashdown has amazingly distracting watery visuals, great draw-in distances, offers a large challenge for one or two players, and is a joy to control.
  12. Easy to handle control, a decent trick system, and the all important water physics are down pat.
  13. This is a better game than "Wave Race: Blue Storm." It may not have the wave physics that Nintendo's racer has (or many waves at all for that matter), but it runs away with the look of the water, control, and playability.
  14. With intuitive control, superb graphics, and a catchy soundtrack, Splashdown is an excellent Jet Ski racing game.
  15. The controls are easy to learn, races are challenging without being unbeatably difficult, and the terrain is rich and varied.
  16. Incredibly fun physics which give you the feeling of actually riding on a waterbased vehicle.
  17. I have never seen water this realistic in a video game. [Jan 2002, p.136]
  18. Incredibly addictive and loads of fun...Sadly, the game only takes a few hours to beat on easy, and is ridiculously hard on the higher difficulty setting.
  19. A good racing game that--with a few tweaks-- could have easily been one of the greatest.
  20. It strikes a perfect balance between racing and aerial trickery so one doesn’t overshadow the other – they’re equally important. [Jan 2002, p.220]
  21. 70
It's difficult to remember which tricks you’ve performed in a race, and which ones have yet to be done... It would have been nice to have stunts “reset” after a while.
  22. A great choice for those seeking a fun, arcade-style racer, but it also has enough depth and variety to keep players interested beyond the first few hours of play.

This game was not very good. Great looking water and realistic physics. I played waverunner on 64 and was able to do fine in that. I playThis game was not very good. Great looking water and realistic physics. I played waverunner on 64 and was able to do fine in that. I play numerous racing games but it was impossible to get past the 2nd level in this game on normal mode. I always had full turbo and never made mistakes but people in last place were faster than me and everyone was perfect at only the 2nd level. Stick with waverunner and enjoy it. Full Review »

It's probably not as bad as I think it is, but I've been spoiled by the title that pioneered water racing games called Waverace. Waverace Blue Storm was great, but Waverace 64 was epic. Splashdown feels like I'm driving a hovercraft over the water instead of a jet ski in the water. Full Review »
