  1. There's a constant sense of achievement and unlike many sci-fi-themed racers, it doesn't get old as it always manages to stay so exciting and fun. [Apr 2002, p.106]
  2. For fans of the films and of fast future racers there is no better alternative to "Wipeout: Fusion" on the PS2.
  3. Though it didn't include anything completely different from Episode 1:Racer a la an extra mode or a four-player option, it still stands as an awesome racer to say the least.
  4. A solid arcade racing experience which weaves dexterity, reflexes, and tension into a fairly deep arcade racing experience.

If you're a Star Wars fan, well, it's time to rejoice, because this game is handled with class and fine detail.
  6. The addition of rewarding knockouts does add a new dimension to the gameplay, but sacrificing the difficulty of the tracks may turn off some players.
  7. Maybe I was looking for a better Star Wars experience like "Rogue Squadron" however I did not find it here.
  8. While the early races start off in a fairly moderately paced action, the later tracks go by with such a speed that you'll have to remember to blink on occasion.
  9. The graphics might not exactly be draw dropping but the experience is certainly entertaining.
  10. Don’t be mistaken into thinking this is a ridiculously deep racer, but for a pure arcade experience, you’ll find little else that offers this type of racing fun, and actually uses the oft-wasted Star Wars license in a compelling way.
  11. If you were nutty about the first Star Wars Racer, you'll find alot to like in this sequel. Depending on how experienced of a gamer you are, a rental might be enough to beat this game.
  12. Placing first is about as hard as finding Star Wars fan clubs on the web... Revenge is a dish best served cold - this Revenge never warms up.
  13. Were it not for some minor draw-in and the fact that it's a bit easy, I would call it the perfect Star Wars racer. [Mar 2002, p.42]
  14. With all the right elements to make a stellar racing game, Star Wars Racer Revenge fails to inspire true excitement or bring something wholly different.

One of those ideal rentals because of its short term appeal. There are some strong qualities here but the lack of difficulty makes any kind of extended play rather limited.
  16. What's disappointing is how little sense of immersion there is. Most of the time you feel like the pod is sitting still and the background is moving by.
  17. 75
The graphics, while generally underwhelming, flow smooth and fast, and the controls match the graphics turn for turn. I wish all of the game was as polished as the best parts.
  18. Sure, it's repetitive, unoriginal, and not very challenging, but we have two words for you: Star Wars. [8 March 2002, p.77]
  19. Though there are a number of hidden characters you can unlock, Racer Revenge is ultimately a short-lived experience that will keep you entertained, but only for the first few times you blast through its courses.
  20. It could have been a lot better, though, if the courses were more varied and the challenge level higher. [Apr 2002]
  21. Where Revenge drops the ball somewhat is in the surprising lack of stuff to do or find once all the racing circuits and characters have been unlocked.
  22. It doesn’t break any new ground. I don’t care if the heads-up display tells me I’m going 600 mph, the sensation of speed isn’t any greater than in Mario Cart.
  23. 70
Racer Revenge looks more like a first-generation PS2 game, complete with draw-in and bland environments. The sounds can be just as dull.
  24. The sense of speed – especially with a built-up racer – is amazing, but it comes at a price: boring, repetitive textures. [Apr 2002, p.139]
  25. It's still a great weekend rental, but even the Jawas wouldn't be able to do much with it when you're through.
  26. If Racer Revenge wasn't a Star Wars game, such a generic little arcade-racer wouldn't even be worth mentioning.
  27. If Rainbow would have made it competitive, I would have loved it, but without challenge, there really is no reason to continue playing. [Apr 2002, p.75]
  28. To say you need quick reflexes to survive this would be an understatement—it’s almost like you need to use a mystical, ambivalent power to help guide you through it. Sort of like the movie.
  29. Racer Revenge isn't a bad game in terms of action when you're out there mid-gameplay, but it does nothing to add to the fun we had with Episode I Racer.
  30. Racer Revenge's staying power is virtually nonexistent.
  31. 50
This game is just so horrifically bad that I cannot recommend it to anyone without feeling guilty inside.
  32. A disappointment because it feels short. The computer opponents are ultimately not up to the competition, and there is no adjustable difficulty setting to level the playfield.
  33. Star Wars Racer Revenge took an excellent control scheme and a promising career mode and sucked all the life out of it.
  34. 40
An excellent "pick-up-and-play" title. The trouble is most will be satisfied enough by "picking up" the controller just once to play this.

I had a blast with this game. I think the challenge is just perfect, and there is so much stuff to unlock that it will take you a while. It got kinda boring after awhile, though, so I would suggest a rental. Full Review »

Too easy, but addictive and fun. Absolutely a great racing game with many players, many tracks, and just plain great.
