  • Summary: Fifteen years after the events of "Suikoden II," follow the intertwining stories of Hugo, the son of a village chief, Chris, the virtuous Knight of Zexen, and Geddoe, the rebellious unit commander, as their fates bring them together in order to gather the 108 Stars of Destiny. Suikoden III breaks new ground in the RPG genre with 3 different battle systems, 3 main characters, 3 styles of combat and a fully detailed 3D world. [Konami] Expand

Sadly, true quality storytelling is extremely rare in this age of overblown and pretentious stories so commonly found in the "Final Fantasy" series and its imitators. Suikoden 3 is a welcome and finely-crafted exception.
  2. On top of that flexibility lies one of the better written stories in recent memory, and then thrown in is one of the most ingenious ways of telling it.

A masterpiece in the world of console RPGs...bringing in one of the most engrossing storylines ever, impressive battle systems, and some good visuals into an overall incredible package.
  4. Epic in scale, grandiose in presentation, and fun to play. This kind of game comes along so rarely, and when it does it shows off what a RPG can be.
  5. The story campaign will take you around 50 hours to complete with all the characters, which is a very solid amount of time for a game of this stature.
  6. 84
Suikoden fans will immediately "hate" the new battle system, while they will probably just "dislike" the world map and the move to 3D graphics with no camera control.
  7. The story is like a bag of bricks I had to heave along as I slogged my way forward...What a disappointment. [Dec 2002, p.172]

Extremely refreshing game in an era that was saturated with mediocre RPGs. This game stood up heads and shoulders over most of the other games of it's time. Expand

Rated 10 because it is the best in the Suikoden series (including IV). Also a 10 in relation to other RPG's out there. With the Trinity Sight System, it gives a whole new meaning to Plot and Character Development. I even wonder why other RPG's haven't caught on to it yet, its genius. Imagine you being able to play in 3 different environments. Aside from that the battle system is superb, as it allows for customization (hello 108 playable characters!) but at the same time, for those who are not into those things, you can still enjoy it with minimal customizations. An innovative and extremely enjoyable game. Adds depth to the series and has a tremendous amount of heart. An RPG fan will love it. Expand

Awesome game. Loved the intro and ending music. Wish it was linked to the previous Suikodens. Game play was also good. Love the use of Runes and the 108 stars. Expand

Great Story, Great Character Design, Bad Camera issue, one hell of a masterpiece.

This game was absolutely terrible; there was hardly any music and you constantly see the same events over and over again with the main characters. It bites all kind of ass and hell I love almost every rpg but not this one. Expand
