I got this game yesterday, and it is completely awesome. The fighting is as fun and fast paced as you would want in a Dragonball Z game, and there is enough depth to keep "hardcore" fighting gamers interested for a long while, learning their characters and tweaking strategies. The only thing that might kill the balance of the game is that you can pump up your fighters, but that's one I got this game yesterday, and it is completely awesome. This game get a lot of hate for no reason whatsoever. Yes you can't zoom around the landscape or spam teleports and massive fireballs. There are plenty of other fighter games that allow you to do that.

This is more of a technical fighting game for the universe. Noritaka Funamizu from Street Fighter 2 provided input, and you can really tell. It feels more like an SF2 EX fighting game, than

That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but certainly not for everyone.

No the best dragon ball z game, BUT is the best 2D FIGHTING dragon ball z game, fast and powerfull combos and each character feels different. I know that Budokai 3 has more characters, but they feel the same and the system of Dragon Rush is... Lame.

The gameplay is where Super DBZ truly shines. From the first time you load up and play Super DBZ, you'll notice the game religiously pays homage to the Akira Toriyama Dragon Ball universe.

Designed to appeal to traditional fighting fans before anime nuts, its strengths lay more to the thinking player's side of things rather than the casual. Had it boasted a larger move set and perhaps a few more playable characters, then its value as a long-term tournament title might have been higher.
  3. Overall Super Dragon Ball Z would be [better] described as "slightly different" than "new and improved."
