Its refreshing setting, exemplary dialogue and acting, and downright fun game mechanics are a shock to the system.
An all-around crowd pleaser with great weapons, exotic locales, and enough mystery to keep you coming back for more.

A great and memorable game, with an interesting story, cool characters, witty dialogue, fantastic action sequences and much more. I wish they made games like this in 2023.

The game is definitely a contender for game of the year. If a possible AI patch would be released, then this game would be a 10+.
With a heavy dash of "Thief," a sprinkling of "Deus Ex," the essence of Bond and a huge dollop of comedy, the game comes to vibrant life, with each of its parts working in terrific synergy.
Honestly, comparing "Half-Life" to NOLF is like comparing an Indiana Jones movie to a post-Connery Bond flick - just as fun, but not as "big".
It starts off slow, but No One Lives Forever is a unique and stylish experience well worth the cost of admission.
May feel more like a classic Bond Marathon on TBS, rather than the instant-gratification spy movies we have seen in recent years.
Having a favorite video game is not easy in a world that have seen lots of great games... for me The Operative No one lives forever is my favorite game of all time.
this game is unique in every aspect , back in it's day and even today video games sadly don't do this kind of projects any more and sadly NOLF has been forgotten by a lot of gamers.
The game's plot follows Cate Archer, a spy who works with a counter terrorism organization called UNITY, in a race against time to stop HARM from destroying the world.
NOLF is a First person shooter with stealth elements taking place in a stylish 1960s era that has heavy influence from tv shows and movies like "Get smart" and "The Avengers (the 60s spy series not the super hero movies)" and "Austin Powers"... so... what makes this game so special? well... the story is not very serious but is not ridiculous either, offering comedic moments and dialog with colorful and stylish characters, the game's gadgets that Archer will use through the game are disguised as cosmetics that gives a different air to a shooter game so it doesn't look like any other game from that time and even today.
Missions takes place in different locals with a bast variety in levels and structures to keep being unique, now... missions even that sometimes could have the same objective, the way you can handle them makes them different each time, like, going totally stealth or going gun blasting like a maniac... well... not all of those missions, some will be strictly require total stealth.
NOLF is a fun and awesome game, you will not get bored, but... it's not exactly an easy game, the more you progress enemies will be more aware of your presence and they will get each time tougher. Something to keep in mind... there are no health pack in the game, so... be carefuller if you die in the mission you either start from the beginning or from the last check point, and they are a bit far from each other.
NOLF has the "must play" seal on it and it's true... this is a must play game that will totally worth your time... sadly... it's not available in digital stores like STEAM OR GOG due some legal IP issues with the game's rights, but you can either get if on ebay or by the NOLF revival team (for free)

Игра хорошая, но у нее есть большая проблема со стелсом, он тяжелый и не интересный, проще пробежать с пушкой в руках всех убивая, чем пытаться скрыться от читерского ии, а как шутер игра крутая. Вторая часть, как по мне, намного лучше.

+ Good/Funny writing and Kate Archer still destroys any "strong" female character they've written in the last 10 years
+ Level design is pretty good
- Stealth is terrible due to the insanely inconsistent/clairvoyant AI which wouldn't have been an issue if...
- The combat wasn't so mediocre either . Kate is super weak and enemies have laser and pixel perfect accuracy which leads to you baiting their braindead AI to come at you single file while you're waiting at corners
Play it since it's free and it can run on a potato . Despite it's weaknesses and certain things not aging all that well it's still a fun game

Je me rappelle à l’époque, cette daube tournait comme une patate sur la Voodoo 3 ! les 3Dfx n’étaient pas à l’aise avec le nouveau Direct3D, le standard d’accélération pour toutes les cartes du marché… et en même temps, les jeux supportant le Glide se faisaient de plus en plus rares… A contrario, les Nvidia étaient faites pour Direct3D et brillaient évidemment plus que les autres à cet égard.
Quoi qu’il en soit, 3Dfx n’est plus mais Direct3D demeure et grâce à Microsoft, on peut encore jouer à ces vieilles daubes de chez Monolith par exemple ! comme ce NOLF qui ne fonctionne pas sur 7 mais très bien sur XP (encore heureux me dira-t-on vu que cet OS commence à ressembler à une antiquité… et j’ai le PC quasiment antique qui va avec !). Le NOLF tourne donc parfaitement mais en 4/3 seulement jusqu’en 1400×1050 apparemment… mais les menus sont alors tellement **** qu’ils en deviennent difficiles à lire : il faut se limiter au 1024×768 !
En tout cas, on a dans ce FPS à la mords-moi-le-noeud une espèce de comédie d’action et une vague satire des « Chapeau Melon et Bottes de Cuir » (The Avengers) er tout le bling-bling de mauvais goût qui va avec… c’est vraiment super débile et … constamment super débile, ça ne faiblit jamais… c’esr le « jeu » qu’on devrait inviter à dîner un mercredi soir.
Un « jeu » scripté et chiant, rapidement très chiant de surcroît, rigide et dirigiste et carrément super casse-couilles à jouer. En somme, c’est le jeu des superlatifs : super con, super débile et super lourdingue. Tiens, le « jeu », viens t’amuser dans le vide-ordures, tu y seras comme un coq en pâte : le broyeur t’attend… impatiemment !
