Using an enhanced "Tomb Raider Legend" game engine, the graphics, technology and physics bring Lara's adventure and pursuit of a mystical artefact known only as the Scion up to today’s technology standards and offer gamers a completely new gameplay experience. The puzzles are now more in depth and incorporate environmental interaction and physics driven solutions. The level design and flow of gameplay are inspired by the original videogame making Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary a brand new experience in gaming, while still invoking the nostalgia of the first adventure in Tomb Raiding. Tomb Raider: Anniversary is a great game. When it comes to remaking a game that is so great and iconic, its often hard to live up to the reputation, but the remake dose it well. It integrates the new game play mechanics introduced with Tomb Raider: Legend such as the grappling hook and revamped targeting system, giving it more of a modern feel, while staying true to the roots of the original. The game gives of a very nostalgic vibe to those who played the first Tomb Raider when it came out such as myself, and it was fun to relive iconic moments such as the T-Rex. On the PS2 the game handles very well, the environments look stunning and the puzzles in them are great. All in all a wonderful experience and tribute to the original. Expand

The level design in this game is excellent. While the game is still level based, each level is large enough to fully immerse the player in its environment. The feeling of isolation also adds to the atmosphere as Lara is exploring almost all these ruins alone. There were plenty of times when I felt completely lost, which is a good thing, this allowed me to appreciate the complexity of each level and also provided a great sense of satisfaction when successfully solving a puzzle or traversing a difficult platforming segment into the next area. The story and combat was a little lacking for me and there were some very specific jumps that were all too frustrating but these issues don't take away too much from the overall package. The game places its emphasis on exploration and it handles this aspect very well. Expand
