  • Summary: Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam delivers an innovative and unique skateboard experience focused on head-to-head racing. The game allows players to feel the breakneck speed of downhill competition as they tear up the world's steepest terrains while performing tricks and outmaneuvering opponents in such locations as San Francisco, Machu Picchu and Hong Kong. Taking on the role of Tony Hawk or one of nine characters, players compete in time-based challenges in one of three gameplay modes including race, trick and slalom. The game features four new single player events, three new multiplayer modes and three new playable characters who contend in the ultimate skateboard racing experience. [Activision] Expand

  1. Jam may lack the luster and polish of the Wii launch title, but this is a game that does a good job fitting the graphics and sound to play style and provides a nice range of game modes.
  2. Tony Hawk's purists may be put off by more of an arcade style and the wacky racing dynamic to Downhill Jam, but the game still has its strengths and provides a simplistic thrill for skating fans.
  3. I'm not a huge fan of skating games, but I really enjoyed Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, from the many great graphical touches to the old-style gamer in me wanting to beat my current high scores.
  4. It's hard to know what to be more pissed about -- that this lackluster port was brought over in the first place or that it will still probably sell due to the sheer number of PS2s out there. Don't be one of those people that gets suckered, though, please?

For the timeframe the port was done in, the limitations of the ps2 compared to the wii...and the poor design of the original game (Toys for bob....learn2develop) This game is fantastic. New modes and characters...really, how can you give it anything but a 10? Expand
