  • Summary: For the first time, players will have the freedom to define their character, story and style based on the choices they make, the paths they choose and the style of skating they use on the proving grounds from Philadelphia and Baltimore to Washington, D.C. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground features deeper customization than ever before, including a Video Editor with full-featured editing tools and visual effects for creating "epic skate videos," and a fully customizable online Skate Lounge where players can skate with friends in the ultimate pad. In addition, players have the freedom to skate from single player to online seamlessly, as well as utilize new gameplay mechanics such as skateable terrain altering and building, and Bowl Carving. Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground also features even more Nail the Trick moves such as Nail the Grab and Nail the Manual intensifying the thrill of pulling off big tricks. [Activision] Expand

  1. Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground does a great job of bringing the Proving Ground experience to the Wii and PS2. The game is a port of the next-generation versions and includes many of the same environments, goals, characters, etc.
  2. Offers hours of solid gameplay and a proven level of quality.
  3. 70
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground does exactly what most fans of the series probably expected.
  4. 69
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is a relatively solid game, but it really doesn't do anything new and significant.
  5. Grey, unfair, buggy: it's a lackluster entry to the series. Still, it's better than "Downhill Jam." [Christmas 2007, p.86]
  6. This version of Proving Ground makes it pretty clear that the priority for the Tony Hawk series is not on this platform.

The Proving Ground is not as good as in the previous sections because:
    - The same graphics
    - Monotonous gameplay
    - No new
    - Boring cities

But because there are good things in it.
    - Tony Hawk's ancient atmosphere
    - Good tricks

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground lacks in many things. Fans of the series may have found Project 8(PS2) disappointing, and I agree with them. It cut out too many things that people loved about the series. With Proving Ground, the series is even farther toward the gravestone. Again, there is no Create-A-Park to be seen. The story is truly uninspired and dull. The camera during gameplay is very "odd" once again. Balance meters cover the whole screen...Yikes! The graphics are decent but not the best in the bunch. The story can easily be completed within a day or to by intermediate players. For new players, the learning curve is pretty easy, which I give the game props for. The game was pretty fun otherwise, but just not in the caliber of what we want. Expand
