  1. Far from perfect, the game comes on strong with enough realism and excellent control to shake a bat at.
  2. A very fun baseball game to play. The game's great graphics, involving gameplay, and great commentary all blend together to deliver an exciting and authentic game of baseball.
  3. The game is a lot of fun to play, regardless of how loose the controls are.
  4. 80
    The gameplay is surprisingly tight.

3DO's High Heat 2003 will be more fun over more time, but if you like your games as pretty as a lingerie model, Triple Play's cup runneth over.
  6. I have played all three PS2 baseball games and TP is by far the most entertaining in terms of scoring a lot of runs, racking up a lot of strikeouts, and looking at eye candy. To hold TP to a simulation-standard would be putting it in the wrong genre.
  7. PSM Magazine
Arcade baseball fans will love this game. [Apr 2002]
  8. Other games offer[] more modes of play, better graphics, and more in-depth gameplay.
  9. Game Informer
No flash, no pop, just a straight-up baseball game that looks great and plays okay. [Apr 2002, p.76]
  10. Pitching is easy and fun, while batting is almost too difficult.
  11. 60
The flawed cursor interface gives you little reason to do anything but swing at every ball—in fact, if you take a pitch, the announcers instantly chide you!
  12. 59
A wasteland of should have been, could have been, and never was. With a myriad of problems in just about every category.
  13. Unfortunately all the fun was vacuum sucked out for a more serious tone.
  14. Skill may be virtually impossible to develop in TP2002. The batting interface is so basic it’s nearly laughable.
  15. Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
Get with it, EA. You're so far behind High Heat it's like you're playing in the minor leagues. [Apr 2002, p.103]
  16. The game swings and misses in so many areas that it ends up alienating arcade fans and simulation fans alike.
  17. Electronic Gaming Monthly
Compared to smoother, more realistic titles such as "High Heat" (and to a lesser extent, "All-Star Baseball"), this is an embarrassment. [June 2002, p.114]
