This is a really great Spiderman game, the action is in full force, theres a really awesome hub world to play around in, where you can just swing around town like spider man or venom. Two different story modes, one with spider man, and one with venom, awesome graphics, and fun and challenging gameplay. including some well designed missions, this is one Spider man game fans wont want to miss. Also reccommended for action fans as well. Collapse

Great game. In my opinion this game is superior to Spider-Man 2 in terms of extra content. There are plenty of comic covers, costumes, landmark tokens, secrets tokens, races. and more to complete. The amount of content is large enough to keep you playing for a long time.

Arguably one of the best superhero games to hit the PS2 -- alongside Spider-Man 2. Pros: Fantastic visuals, control, and audio; excellent story that perfectly follows along the comic book series; spectacular cutscenes; funny dialog. Cons: Lacks a lot of the variety in Spider-Man 2; some missions involve lots of web-slinging, which will feel tedious at some point.

While it doesn't do anything new as it borrows the open world theme of Spider-Man 2, it is still a huge blast to play, the graphical style will remind you of a comic book, there are tons of bosses to fight, and they corrected a mistake from Spider-Man 2 by giving the ability for crimes to go on around you instead of you having to trigger them by talking to a citizen, and the fact that you play as Spider-Man and Venom during the main missions is cool, my only complaints are that the voice acting isn't all that great, and the Venom survival mode is boring, those flaws aside if you liked Spider-Man 2 you'll love this. Great game! the graphics are what really got me! they're based on the art work from the comics (ultimate spider-man writen by Brian Michael Bendis, illustrated by Mark Bagley) if you even remotely liked this game (or didn't) check out the comics! if you had to choose between the game or the comics, choose the comics.

A very bad game.It has an interesting and cool look but thats it. The game is very frustrating. Every missions especially the chase missions are very frustrating. Every mission feels like it wasnt even tested before puplishing the game. The missions are very bad costructed. The city is very bad created with many short buildings and few big ones that makes swinning around very boring. Also swinning has changed with fewer cool moves and it lost some of the rush it had compared to the spiderman 2 game. The story is interesting but when all the story missions are so bad you end up not carrying about the story because of the frustration. Venom is an interesting character at first but after a while you want more spidey and no venom. Venoms missions should have been optional. I cant believe how bad the gameplay is in this game. The city is boring and not that fun swinning around like you did in the spiderman 2 game. Also the graphics are good but not that good to cover up the very bad gameplay. The team behind this one seems it doesnt understand what is fun and what is boring. Expand

Oh dear. Is that it? Whilst it looks very pretty, and is probably the best comic-looking game I've played since XIII, there is nothing to it. The main story can be finished in 6 hours, the races (which I hated in Spidey 2 as well), city events and tokens have no carry-on value and it's a great disappointment. There aren't any Boss battles like in S2 - the S2 Shocker and Octopus battles are particularly good, and require more than just beating the opponents, whereas US it's all a case of dodge then hit. Very disappointing. Looks good, tastes awful. Expand

It seems the Spidey franchise has taken a step backwards on it's latest console outing. Upon playing any seasoned gamer will soon realise the only thing on offer here is a fairly empheral showcase for some pretty cell-shaded graphics. Since, the only thing Treyarch have actually done with this new offering is produce a poorly tailored version of Spiderman 2. Everything from timed races to the wearingly tedious scavenger hunt for tokens has been re-incorporated into an altogether inferior amalgam. Sadly, the novelty of playing as both Spiderman and his villanous counterpart is a short-lived. And frankly, it's rather inexcusable that Treyarch think this half-baked offering is acceptable fodder for loyal fans of the superhero genre and respectable gamesplayers alike. Expand

Hey its either a smash (10) or trash (0), and I found this game floating in a cess pool. It has the same game play as the 2nd spiderman but with cell shaded graphics (which I do love), but lacks any other special qualities that make it, well new. The new feature which allows you to switch to Venom through out the game was nice, seeing as how Venom was the only good part of the game, but even still the experience was ruined when you couldn't play as him as much, swing from buildings, and constantly look for nourishment for the pesky life draining suit. With spider-man the creators decided to polish this turd of a game by making him 15 yrs of age but even worse the wit of a 6 year old with head trauma from being beatin with a wiffle bat, to quote spider-man, "sweet sassy malassy" (*cringe*), or my favourite "why couldn't I just for once fight a giant size huggy bear who gives kisses" (*spew*). With that said the experience I gained through playing this game to the end, it is left to say, play something else, unless your used to disappointment. Expand

The same great gameplay as spiderman 2. if you loved that game you will surely love this one. i like the graphics more on this one because it really looks like your playing through a comic book which is very impressive. My onlly gripe...which might be because im not that far is that you cant do web rodeo on people or grab them and throw them off buildings like you did in spiderman 2, thats the only thing thats lacking from this one. It's fun, don't get me wrong. It's more of Spiderman 2, but prettier. The style is what sets this above others.

Great game! cant beleave wut a great job Activision did with this one. web swinging is tons of fun. the only down side to the game is since when has venom not been able to swing. that is the reson i give this game a 7 instead of a 10. the comat system could have been more creative but still it was a great game.

Lost some of the fun of web-swinging. Venom is not as fun to play (hulk is better). Graphics are great. Not much depth to the combat.

A vibrant, eye-popping superhero disc that has more style, wit and compelling gameplay in its first 10 minutes than most games have in their entirety.

From a comics geek standpoint, outside of gameplay issues, this is the Holy Grail of comic-book videogames. While "X-Men Legends," "Hulk" and "The Punisher" are all fine games in their own right, none of them are so perfectly tuned into the source material. The slick style is brilliant, the story mode a complete (albeit brief) joy.

The biggest drawback of this game is the inclusion of Venom as a playable character. He draaaags. He can't web swing (but he can cover vast distances with his leaps), he relies on brute strength rather than finesse, and you must also devour people in order to keep the suit from killing the man inside.
