  1. The sheer amount of geometry being thrown about to depict the cities and areas being driven through (literally) is also quite impressive.
  2. The multiplayer mode is a waste of disc space thanks to the decision to forgo split-screen and could have easily been improved with a few minor changes.
  3. Cheat Code Central
You aren't going to get a lot of replay value out of it, but if you like things a little on the "quirky" side of gaming, at least give it a test drive.
  4. Game Informer
Much improved, and it's still only okay. [Dec 2002, p.123]

The fact is that there are games on both the PS2 and GameCube that easily outclass this one in everything it sets out to do.
  6. The technical limitations of the PlayStation 2 rob the original of most of its visual style and slow the pace considerably, resulting in a mediocre mission-based driving game with poor handling.
  7. Sometime Wreckless is too chaotic for you to properly digest it. There can be too much onscreen action and it blends into one big mess.
  8. Even with the bonus goodies, Wreckless is still that extremely fun game that loses it charms way too quickly.
  9. Now with the loss of those overachieving looks and through the passage of time, no amount of bonus missions or unlockables can make up for the lack of engaging gameplay.

The fun wears off pretty soon though, and you'll soon realize that this game is as deep at a kiddy pool.
  11. netjak
The rest of the game looked markedly sharper than the cutscenes, and that really bothers me.
  12. Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
So ultimately, you have a bad port of a not-particularly great Xbox game with all of the interesting bits removed. [Dec 2002, p.180]
  13. PSM Magazine
It's not the graphical tour de force that the original Xbox version was, but it's a much bigger, more complete game now. [Holiday 2002, p.46]
  14. It’s asinine game design to attempt single-screen multiplayer with code that isn’t PS2 optimized to begin with.
  15. Essentially, what we have here is a lightweight arcade-style driving game that’s great fun to play in the short-term. Sadly, the whole thing comes to an end to rapidly.
