The game features a unique three-way online multiplayer experience, allowing gamers to battle for survival and the right to be crowned the deadliest species in the galaxy. Each race also has its own distinct action-packed single-player campaign mode, with a storyline that cleverly interweaves with the other two species’ paths. Set on planet BG-386; a human colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the galaxy, a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs. Deep inside the ruined pyramid meanwhile, nature's deadliest species awakes from centuries of hibernation intent on finding new prey. The Colonial Marine's story is an incredible fight against all odds from horrors lurking in the dark. Surrounded on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanity's last stand with the firepower to fight back. As the Alien, players discover what it's like to be the scariest, most murderous creature in the universe, with the ability to traverse any surface at lightning speed in order to get close enough to unleash its deadly claws, tail and teeth. A master of the hunt, the Predator grants the player an arsenal of exotic weaponry with which to stalk from the shadows. Earn the greatest honor by ambushing prey up-close, before butchering them for a gory trophy kill. [Sega] Expand

  1. Possibly the greatest movie-inspired title ever. This positively oozes atmosphere and is a must for the fans. [Mar 2010, p.72]
  2. AvP's multiplayer is gory, gratifying, and will bring an evil little smile to your face. [Apr 2010, p.76]
  3. Aliens vs Predator it's a fun to play FPS. The singleplayer is quite enjoyable if played with one of the creatures, but unfortunately playing as marine doesn't scare as it once did. Aesthetically the games looks quite old on consoles, but it sounds exactly as the movies. After finishing the game, you'll find a complete and quite well made multiplayer mode, entertaining thanks to the good calibration of the three races.
  4. Alien vs. Predator is not the greatest of games, but it is not all bad. Also with the poor visuals and a multiplayer system that isn’t all that interesting, you’ll probably put the game down once you finish all the campaign stories.
  5. Rebellion is unable to recreate the glory days of the first game. In trying, they have been way too conservative. The result is a game that looks and feels a lot like the original, which doesn’t hold up that much in this day and age. The multiplayer compensates for the single player, but not enough.
  6. Ultimately, it lacks the action set pieces that helped to push the FPS genre to where it is today.

The survivor mode is like the game itself in a microcosm. It's rote and uninspired, a desultory thoughtless collage of bits and pieces surgically removed from the movies and dropped lifelessly into a dated engine.

Playing through the first-person shooter as a marine, an Alien and a Predator, gamers will piece together the story of what happened on Freya's Prospect Colony and the U.S.S. Marlow. Packed with weapons, over-the-top trophy kills and special moves.

The Predator: One of my favourite species to control, the Elite Predator gets three vision modes, normal vision,(as us humans see) heat vision for the marines, and alien vision. You have all of the predatorâ

The I have been playing all day and have yet to see what the bad reviews talk about. I don't see anything wrong with the visuals. The controls are fluid once you get used to them (plus there are many schemes to choose from). The sound is excellent taken straight from the alien movies, The gameplay is very good, all species feel different to play. The multiplayer is very good and feels fresh compared to other games. It's really fun to play species team deathmatch as well as other modes. If you are an avp fan then this game is the next best thing to the original alien and predator movies (not the two crappy avp). It feels as if you are watching "aliens" all over again which is a very good thing. In short it looks great, it plays great, it feels great and its worth its money. Sure it's not GOTY material or Killzone 3 but it is a very good game nonetheless and doesn't deserve any score below 7-8. Expand

At it'sAliens vs. Predator is not a perfect game by any means. The gun play, mission types and general set-up all feel very last generation. At it's core, AvP is an antiquated game sharing more in common with Perfect Dark than Call of Duty. Despite this, Aliens vs. Predator is a lot of fun. It's mechanics, whilst old, work completely fine and the game has tight controls. But most importantly, AvP nails the atmosphere and spirit of the movies just right. If you're a big fan of the franchises, this game is sure to delight. All three of the campaigns feel and play very distinctly and they're all equally as fun. The plot is also descent as each species experiences the same event, but from different skews. You'll have to wait until you've finished all three campaigns to fully understand the bigger picture. Because of it's franchise association, the game has a high replay value. Sometimes I just want to dip into the Aliens universe. When that time comes, AvP gets dusted down and played through again. The multiplayer is pretty descent, but it's here where the older game mechanics make themselves felt the most. Basically, it's never going to replace a COD or a Battlefield as your go-to online shooter. Overall, Aliens vs. Predator is a good, solid game. But if you're a huge fan of the franchise, it can sometimes transcend into a great one. Expand

The singleplayer is fun and keeps you on your toes, and has the AvP elements to it. There are 3 campaigns to choose from- Marines, Aliens and Predators. As a marine you are send on a mission with your squad. On your way down to the planet you get attacked by Predators and you lose your consciousness. You wake up your corporal gives you orders to aid your friends. As an Alien you are a escaped test subject that frees your friends from a lab. As the Predator you have just passed your training and have been given a mission to retrieve a certain artifact on the planet that used to belong to the Predators. Once you have completed the campaigns you won't really feel like going back. The multiplayer is awful. The multiplayer offers a small amount of horrible maps, and unbalanced characters where the Predator has the upper hand. Expand

The alien controls are hopelessly awkward, the environments are bland and dull to look at, the multi player maps are terrible and have areas you should be able to move over but cannot (invisible walls) and the game play just lacked any element of real enjoyment - I grew bored and stopped playing in less than a hour.
