Another proof of how good the guys at Gaijin are at what they do. An entertaining, deep and challenging helicopter flight simulator.

It's simple, really- if you want a focused, in-depth flying simulator that puts most all emphasis on intricate gameplay, your game is right here.

Maybe saying that this is currently the best helicopter simulation game is not the greatest of the praise due the lack of competition, but certainly it is an enjoyable game.

The game isn't bad but it does have a very narrow focus on Apache helicopter combat.

Apache: Air Assault is a great flight simulator that really knows how to show the true importance of helicopters during warfare. The controls and the gameplay won't let casual gamers join in on the fun and so Air Assault is really for those that have been playing with toy helicopters as a kid.

The combat is a sight to behold, but the missions are more than little formulaic thanks to the nature of the aircraft.

Apache: Air Assault faithfully captures all the nuance of piloting an attack helicopter while including plenty of extras to keep fanatics coming back for more.

This game is no core gamer simulation. Sometimes the action is unfair and you should really be a fan of trial-and-error. Apache: Air Assault is nevertheless an entertaining game.
  9. It's hard to imagine casual types persisting with Apache for too long. It's certainly good enough for a game of its ilk but, once the novelty of pounding the ground wears thin, that's it. With just a single type of helicopter available it lacks the variety you get in most other air combat sims. [March 2011, p78]

A game that does not transcend the borders, but it feeds the genre and stands as a proposal to be taken into account.

Decent helicopter action with some flaws that keep it from flying higher on the grade skies.

If you always dreamt about navigating a helicopter once in your life, then Apache Air Assault is a must-have. The detailed graphics and awesome atmosphere provide almost endless motivation.

Tries to be a simulation and an arcade-game at the same time, but founds on the details.

Overall, Apache Air Assault offers players enough content across its 16 levels of multiple stages to warrant a purchase. However, because of the lacking variety in the missions and the all too quick repetitive nature of title, many gamers may find themselves growing tired of flying the Apache's before they have even managed to get past the learning curve.

Playing through the campaign cooperatively and online multiplayer also aren't as fleshed out as they could have been. Apache Air Assault is an overall enjoyable flight simulator, but its lasting appeal is as short as your joystick.
  16. It's not an unplayable wreck--it just isn't worth the time and effort it takes to slog through. [Jan 2011, p.84]

It's hard to recommend this game to anyone but the most hardcore of flight simulator fans. As in, you have to be unreasonably hardcore. As in, you have Apache-themed bedspread and keep a picture of a Boeing AH-64A in your wallet that you stare at longingly throughout the day.

Really an 8 but due to the short campaign mode, I docked off 1 point. But for those who like flying and helicopters, you'll love this game. Make no mistake, this game is meant for those whose have patience. Once you realize that you have to fly the Apache like a real helicopter, then you'll be having a blast. Too bad it's relatively short because of the 6-hour campaign mode. There's also a free flight mode where you can fly 3 Apache variants plus a UAV copter and a Hind. As for online, it's dead, not a soul is there. Back when it was released, $60 was kinda too much, but now it's cheap, so if you love Apaches or flying in general, grab this game. Full Review »

If you are into helicopter flight simulator this one if for you. Plenty of realistic flight controls and mechanics. The various missions are standard issue but this is a licensed product of a deadly weapon. To be an Apache pilot you need to pass a 2yrs flying course. I've enjoyed the coop and I'm guessing the online is not always open since it's a 2010 game. If you want to engage in more action buy games like Battlefield 3 + Full Review »

This flying simulation is not particularly fun and the combat is not exactly engaging. There is however a real challenge in learning how to fly the Apache and if you are a flying enthusiast you will enjoy this element, however casual gamers will be turned off by the lack of obvious excitement. The missions are pretty standard fare and overall I felt the game was missing a sense of creative license. I wish they had taken a different approach when building the game because the flying physics are superbly sophisticated. I also noticed that there was no one online for a multiplayer battle. 63/100 Full Review »
