In a vast open world environment, the game invites players to incarnate Ezio, a privileged young noble in Renaissance Italy who's been betrayed by the rival ruling families of Italy. Ezio's subsequent quest for vengeance plunges players into an epic story that offers more variety in missions, surprising and engaging new gameplay elements, diverse weapons and a profound character progression that appeal to fans of the original Assassin's Creed as well as entice players new to the brand. The sequel has arguably changed for the better in just about every conceivable way...Assassin's Creed II truly offers an experience like no other, one that mixes history and brutality to sheer perfection. And it's absolutely massive. [Holiday 2009, p.38]
  2. Assassin’s Creed II is a worthy successor of one the most intriguing new franchises we have seen in a long time.
  3. Not only an unreservedly brilliant and compelling follow-up, but one of the finest games we’ve ever played. Boasting a suitably grand soundtrack, majestic aesthetics and masterful level design, Assassin’s Creed II is everything we could have ever wished for and so much more. Forget Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed II is without a doubt this year’s biggest and best.
  4. Assassin's Creed was easily one of my favorite games of the last decade, and I love the sequel even more. It has managed to improve on almost every aspect of the game, despite missing a couple of obvious and unfortunate mistakes. This side trip to Italy is a truly fantastic vacation and worth every dollar, euro, or gold Florin.
  5. Perhaps the ultimate testimony is the fact that it left us longing for another sequel, something the original certainly never achieved.
  6. Assassin's Creed II is more than a great sequel because it does things the first game couldn't even hope to accomplish. There are tons of surprises in store, so if you enjoyed the original – or even if you only kind of liked it – this is one of those sequels that absolutely must be played.
  7. To say the least, Assassin’s Creed II is a disappointment – not because it’s bad, but because we were promised so much more. Everything Ubisoft claimed they were changing has stayed the same, and what little new touches they’ve included fail to impact in the long run.

The graphics are amazing, even running at a mere 720p, the animations are superb and the story is engrossing. The gameplay has a few issues - often imprecise and finicky, but they don't detract from the experience, which is superb. A grade title! Cheers Expand

The wonderfully expressed story; the charming and memorable characters; the awe-inspiring musical compositions by Jesper Kyd that rippled in the background; the excellent graphics and brilliant gameplay made this an absolute PS3 classic. Even gamers who didn't enjoy this game cannot deny the huge, ubiquitous influence it had on the rest of the gaming community at the time and rightfully so. This game was a diamond, a true masterpiece and one that I absolutely will come back to when I'm in the mood for a good old dose of nostalgia. Expand

Unlike the first AC, ACII fixes the problems with the first game. Gone are the repetitive missions and gone is the confusing story. Instead we get a best explanation of the story and the gameplay is much more varied and fun. The assassinations are more fun to execute and I like the choice of 15th century Italy rather than the Crusades. This game is amazing and you'll want to check this game out after playing the original AC. Expand
