    Neversoft and Activision have built on the successful design of Guitar Hero 5 and given it a fresh new look and replaced all that aggressive rock and pounding metal with fun and energetic pop music and the smooth sounds of classic rock from the past three decades that will certainly appeal to younger gamers and their parents.

    With sturdier instruments, a great track listing and some new tweaks and twists to the gameplay, Band Hero is a great game for solo or parties and with the inclusion of celebrity avatars and improved customization features, this game is everything you need to enjoy and start your own virtual band.

    While some people might complain about being fatigued by the seemingly endless stream of similar music games, when they're tied to each other like Band Hero is tied to GH5, I see that as a positive direction for Activision's franchise. It's one of the strongest points of the Rock Band series, and is a very smart move for Hero as well.

    Band Hero is simply Guitar Hero 5 repackaged, and this is fine, but gamers should be aware of this before they think Activision has brought something new to the genre.

    If you're interested in even half the songs, I can almost guarantee you'll find at least a couple more surprisingly entertaining. And that pretty much sums up Band Hero for me: It's not a revolution for the genre, but it is a surprisingly solid, well thought-out, and just plain entertaining game.

    I understand that people say that this game had a terrible Top 40 soundtrack, and they are right to an extent. But there are also some great songs on here, such as "Rio" by Duran Duran, "Mr. Roboto" by Styx, "American Pie" by Don McLean, "Kung-Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas, "Let's Dance" by David Bowie, "Whip It" by Devo, "Happy Together" by The Turtles, etc. I personally enjoyed the older songs in this game, and some of the newer songs are pretty terrible, but I got through them. As for the presentation, I never thought Guitar Hero should be in the whole band business. They should have stuck to guitars and left that stuff for Rock Band. Therefore, the menus are pretty lacking in information and are generally robust. I definitely think the menus are a lot better in Rock Band. However, I think the good far outweighs the bad and I could spend long amounts of time enjoying these songs because some of them are pretty awesome.… Full Review »

    The game is actually very fun to play. The setlist consists mainly of pop and pop rock and is pretty easy to play. If you're a hardcore player, you won't find any big challenge from this game. The game is still enjoyable to play and a different experience when you don't have to play very hard songs and can relax with some easy ones.… Full Review »

    ive played alot of theese music games such as guitar hero 2 ,3 and world tour as well as rock band 1 and 2 and the AC/DC track pack. i was not very intrested in this game when it first came out and waited and got it off ebay with a guitar and mic for $23 with shipping . which feels like a real bargan . the track list pretty much makes or breaks it for me how much i will enjoy playing this and about half the music in this game is crap but this game was targeted for younger gamers and i am 32 so half theese songs i never heard of and wish i never did. its a better choice for some thing to play with your kids. the best music game is still rock band 2 in my book.… Full Review »
