An incredible game to say the least. The Single Player Campaign is the best in its class and the Multiplayer has some of those epic 'Battlefield' moments. And, the way that you can customize your 'classes' in a multiplayer game is much better than those of Call of Duty. It is definitely a better game than the first Bad Company and is worth the purchase. I could not disagree more with JohnD, as if one side has something such as a helicopter it can get frustrating getting killed over and over but it puts you into a hard situation that YOU have to deal with. Also, if you level up or unlock something in-game you get to change and use it, in-game. For a basic summary, best in it's class and I have played EVERY Battlefield game to date. This is incredible. I'd like to start off by saying that this game is spectacular in graphics and sound effects.Ok the sound effects really immerse you into the game, from the crunching of leaves under your boots to the sound of an explosion of an rpg when it hits right beside you. vedict for sound: outclasses mw 2 in that department by miles. Now the graphics ... are u kidding ... BFBC2>>>>>>>>>MW 2 again. ok now the gameplay, mw 2 is full of kids with squeaky voices and campers and feels more like its trying to win u over with novelty addons such as tac knife and perks such as lightweight , sleight of hand pro (quickscoping is a thing of the past in bfbc2 because the sniping is a whole lot more realistic.) and steady aim (encourages spraying). Where as bf bc 2 encourages teamwork and its only gives you the basic addons that u actually need for a gun such as red dot sight , sliencer and grenade laucher. My final verdict , dont waste your $80 on a piece of junk with poor gameplay and poor graphics buy bf bc 2 insteadu won't regret it. Expand

I don't know what game nikko was playing, but it wasn't this one. Run and gun? not a chance, there are many snipers in this game, who will pick you off in a heartbeat if you run out in the open. MW2 is the run and gun game with ppl respawning randomly behind you.....For a multiplayer repawn game, there's not much i would change, however, a 'lock on' rocket launcher is a must for a beginning character. you shouldn't have to wait 4 unlocks on engineer just to shoot down a spawn camping helo. this is why i give the game a 9 instead of a 10, also it does take a while to start to unlock decent weapons. ??? What an appallingly overrated load of garbage!! I read the good reviews... I hired it out (along with MW2, which I have played a thousand times).for SEVEN days... and played it twice for maybe three hours all up... It was skin-crawlingly lame and I just returned to the far-superior MW2.... BC2 has muddy, crappy, 720p-max graphics; chaotic, pointless gameplay... which only a retarded run n gun scum could possibly like.... the maps are unfollowable.... the vehicles uncontrollable and, it would seem, indestructible to you but not if you get in it - yay!!..... the controls stupid in any and all variation(s) it makes from MW2 - seemingly only b/c MW2 has used them IN EVERY CASE (melee, crouch etc).... you know why MW2 used their configurations DICE? Cos they are better. Sound seems dead and empty... like a permanent frag has gone off.... Weapons lame... how the upgrades work is not remotely followable so there is no sense of working towards anything like MW2's perks and unlocks and so forth... Quite how anyone could give this craptatsic game a review score above four out of ten is totally beyond me. Overrated, boring, frustrating and ugly. Finding the enemy is always a complete fluke, if can find them at all and I rarely saw the person who killed me... just a stupid game. MW2 craps all over it. Trust me. Expand

The campaign was decent, nothing too great. Everybody told me that the multiplayer was awesome, and extremely addictive. But it is not as good as people make it out to be. The multiplayer aspect seems as they rushed in making it and did not think out things. Such as how you can choose where you want to spawn, considering that my teammate has 3 guys in front of him that he is flanking. I can spawn off of him and help him get the kills. Or I can kill an enemy and then his teammates some how miraculously spawn from him and kill me. It is full of campers sniping everywhere, and it is pointless to go out because more than likely you will be killed from behind you. Caused by the random spawning. It is a decent game, but not that great. Expand

This is a great game. The level of destruction is incredible. If the maps are unfollowable and the vehicles uncontrollable then that just proves you don't know how to play a game! This game is realistic, fun to play and solid. This is a great FPS and the multiplayer rocks.

Don't know why the word "Bad" is in the title of this game because I can assure you that their is nothing remotely bad about it! Well maybe the AI amongst your squad as that's telling after a good few hours gameplay but overall this is a tremendous FPS. It's a game that doesn't get the credit it deserves and we all know why (CoD anyone?) but when CoD achieved what it did with MW its easy to see why especially comparing CoD to the first Bad Company. But I can safely say EA, well DICE, have rectified that. The graphics are a huge step-up from the original, especially in the forests in Bolivia. The sound however is what immerses you in the action, its terrific and captures the moments. The single-player focuses upon finding a scalar weapon currently being rebuilt by a Russian general who intends to destroy America. The missions are enjoyable, unfortunately like most not long enough although Bad Company 2 isn't as bad the likes of MW1/2 selling you short. However the real area where Battlefield excels is online. It is near unbeatable. Add to the fact its addictive as hell and allows you to decide which class you wish to take, as well well as that you can build up your prestige and upgrade your weapons. This is on par with CoD, and a worthy alternative and in many ways beats its adversary. Imagine just how good Battlefield 3 will be!?! Expand

The story is very good innovative perhaps awesome ,well designed levels, many places where it develops like Russia< Bolivia etc ,. The multiplayer is very awesome many options, big maps, just what the tittle said Battlefield and is always Epic much better than a lot of other multiplayer if you want a war zone multiplayer, this is the pick . Just WOW! Single player, brief but satisfying. Multiplayer, OMG! A new king of FPS has emerged. Especially now that Infinity Ward is basically no more. I have to wonder how much Activision sets aside in their budget to buy reviews though. The multiplayer in CoD is (as of this writing) so buggy it is almost unplayable. The single player is shorter than BFBC2. How does it attain a higher meta than Battlefield? $$$$ Expand

OK, so the multiplayer still rocks, but why oh why did they abandon the kind of open plan levels in the single player campaign that made the original so fun? The original Battlefield BC had a design philosophy which made the single player a great experience, they let you do it pretty much your own way, walk or drive it was your choice. This time they seem to have walked away from that in an attempt to copy Modern Warfare. Spend 20 minutes driving round the outside of an impregnable fortress looking for the exact spot where the game designers say I can get in? Why the hell can't I just rocket a hole in the wall and drive on in? Bad Company stood out because it was different to all the other on rails shooters out there, too bad they chickened out with the sequel. Every single player game is on rails from here on in. Expand

Superior to Modern Warfare 2 in most areas, with some minor shortcomings in the single player campaign. As I played MW2 it became repetitive, and even while playing team matches everybody always runs off in MW2. BC2 does not have this issue thankfully, and the amazing destruction is similar to Red Faction in scale and detail. It is not as epic as MAG, but the destruction and the stratey that it creates make it THE online game to own for the PS3 right alongside MAG and RFOM2. Expand

I’ll start off by saying, I generally base my experience of FPSs (First Person Shooters) on the multi-player aspects. Rarely do I ever the 'campaign'/Single-Player mode. That being said, I will say this is one of the best FPSs I've ever played. Since the game online, like many multi-player games, you will always have someone to play with. The Sound- Sound effects, music, dialog, background noise is all top notch. this game tried is hardest to capture the sound of an actual battle and does a great job at it. The dialog of nearby characters help you determine what is going on in your current surroundings. The background noise in this game is always generated by near-by action. So if you ever hear faint gun sounds in the distance, it is coming from someone somewhere VS the game just creating random background sounds. Visual- The visuals of this game is probably closer to about a B+ or A-. The character designs can be annoying because there are only 8 models total, 4 models per team. Basically you will find yourself running across the same person over and over again. The map/stage designs are top notch. Each map is very detailed, but not convoluted to the point where it is just ridiculous. The number of different maps, and the size of the maps also factor in. Each map being completely different (almost) from the first. Some maps have tanks, jeeps. Other maps have Helicopters, while some maps have boats and keeps. Minor details, however, are not nearly done as well. The foliage of the jungles, plants, trees, etc, looks very plain, and almost 2D at times. Otherwise, the game is done rather well, but could use a minor upgrade. Controls- The movement takes some getting used to, ESPECIALLY in the vehicles. Moving feels rather choppy at first, but you get the feel of it rather quickly since it is made to imitate normal movements. Vehicles, at least to me, do not feel so natural. I personally still have not figured our how to fly a helicopter well (Basically I take it and jump out eventually). Other vehicles seem to have a rather awkward default setting. I do have issue with not being able to hold/time grenades. It is basically a one-shot. The moment you get the grenade button, it is tossed. This makes it easier to avoid. PS- Parachuting is awesome Gameplay- (Remember, this is coming from a multi-player only experience) The feel of this game make the experience so much better. You quickly realize you can play BC2 as a solo-artist, or as a team player. Solo-Artist can get things done, but make it rather difficult to work with when you're on a team. When you play as a team, and every unit (assuming your team has selected a variety of units) you quickly realize this game was modeled after real battlefields, where you are basically relying on your team to win, winning solo is possible, but not recommended. There are not that many different modes in multi-player (rush, Conquest, Deathmatch), but the modes never feel like they are getting old. From Sniping, to reviving, to flying helicopters, to parachuting into battle. This game will keep you coming back for more. Overall- (Multi-player) Based on the multi-player, this game is definitely a win. The learning curving takes some time, especially getting used to the weapons, how they should be used, and how the different add-on affect this or that. Once you get to level 4, you have basically figured it out and you are ready for war. I will say there on some problems I did not mention, mainly team-balancing and matchmaking issues. But I assume these issues will be fixed soon with firmware updates. Expand

Understand that this is more than a straight up shooter like Call of Duty. This game really is about using all of your resources to dominate the battlefield. If you're looking for an experience deeper than "walk around and shoot the first person I see (which is CoD"), then this is the best game there is.

A simply breathtaking multiplayer experience packaged with a solid and intense single player. BC2 triumphs over all the competition, especially mw2 which it constantly makes fun of during single play - thank you! Some graphical tears and glitches occur, but nothing is detrimental to gameplay, all of which can be fixed with patches. Destructible environment keeps you on edge, along with a vast array of vehicles and weapons, this is the multiplayer war game I've been waiting for, this is the one to buy now! Only down side is the lack of going prone, but seeing as how large the maps are, I can understand removing that feature, and a half-assed clan system; none of which truly effect gameplay. This is a perfect 10/10, even with its flaws, realistic and balanced combat still proves exceptionally fun. Ignore the 'critics', there hypocritical and paid off. Everything there bashing this about, was praised for or completely ignored in mw2; and that's a simple fact. Call of Duty should begin to look for a casket, its death is near. Expand

The first half of the single player campaign is solid good, worth-the-money fun. 2 Hours in you will start to notice the terrible squad AI and the lack of any real challenge/narrative. it starts to feel pointless and repetative very quickly. Its not as good as MW2 in single player. But Having a singleplayer campaign in a Battlefield game is a bonus anyway, and anyone who buys a Battlefield game for its singleplayer is asking for too much. The multiplayer in the game makds MW2 look utterly dated and tame. Teamwork is what makes online gaming so enjoyable, its the sense of comradeship, a sense of leadership, co-operation and a shared challenge that satisfys us. BC2 is made of these ingredients. It is fertile with drama and possibility. MW2 is a game from 5 years ago, its mindless. BC2 has combined the best elements of MW2 (weapons, pace) with what we expect from a modern game ie, (Scope, freedom, stratergy, teamwork, satisfaction). Im blown away by this game. Three truley incredible achievements of BC2: The sound design. The best I have ever witnessed. The Destructable scenery. Staggering and unique. Its not as detailed as crysis in this respect but it does it so well. The graphics engine. It gives you so much and asks so little in return. Like hitman blood money. CONS: Major Lack of communication abilities for people with no mics. Q and T buttons gone ( were great in BF2). No Prone. Such a great feature of previous titles. Where are the jets? Expand

I just finished this game and its absolutely amazing. I haven't played online yet, but the single player campaign is amazing. It reminded me on CODMW2, though the story wasn't quite as good as that one. The cliffhanger ending was pretty awesome too, def leaving it open to another game, though again, the cliffhanger not as good as MW2. My only criticism is the tank mission, which become very annoying, the few glitches, particularly on the plane at the end, and the fact that the cliffhanger ending of the first one was completely ignored. However, the campaign was still amazing and highly addictive as the best games are. 10/10. Expand

If i could i would give this a 9.5. This game was great. You really can't compare MW2 and BC2. They are 2 totally different games. BC2 you will like if you like big explosions and lots of gunfire. You'll like call of duty if you like action and lots of gunfire. BC2 was a great game. the campaign was good but what really set a high standard was the outstanding multiplayer. If you are in trouble in the multiplayer and you are in a squad, you can tell you squadmates to come and help you and you can overpower those 2 or 3 enemies that were before pinning you down. Everything was done right except for some issues that are hardly noticeable. one problem i had though is that after the first mission, the cutscence screwed up and i had to wait for the glitchy cutscene to god 2x slower and then it was back to normal. i actually didn't notice that until after i restarted the game 2 more times. But that is one of the few issues that i have ever had with this game. Expand

I would give it 9.5/10 because it's much better than any other multiplayer shooter on consoles right now, but it is a huge drag that combat is limited to 12v12. BF2 was released in 2005 and it supported 32v32.... why the step backwards? 4 man squads are too small, I have at least 9 or 10 other friends that play this game religiously, and I have to choose only a couple to play with each time. I guess I have to wait for BF3. Please remember that this is BFBC2 or BC2, NOT BF2, which is a different game made by DICE. Expand

I have played every Battlefield game made other than 2142 and this one is top notch. The destruction engine makes the game different every time its played in multiplayer. If you play with some friends and actually use the mics to talk and work as a squad you can destroy a team that has a bunch of lone wolfs on it. That is the reason I believe the multiplayer is better than MW2's multiplayer. Single player is alright but their is a reason that the original bad company was the first Dice BF game with a single player campaign. Review sites always gave low scores if the game didn't have a single player campaign. BF 1942, BF Vietnam, BF 2, BF 1943 all multiplayer only. And those that think BF BC2 copied MW2 get with the program because BF is one of the oldest warfare games out their. BF 1942 came out in 2002 with 32 player MP Online with Huge maps and vehicles and class's. Call of Duty (First one) came out a year later and had no multiplayer. The same people that claim BC2 copied Mw2 are the same people that think the first multiplayer FPS game was BOND for the nintendo64 (Console Noobs). Ive played both BC2 and MW2 and MW2 is more like counterstrike and battlefield is like.... well Battlefield. Nice Job DICE. Expand

When I first played the BFBC2 beta that came out in November for the PS3 I wasn't that impressed because I was so into MW2 that just came out earlier that month. After I lent my buddy MW2 I decided to give beta a chance. It took me a while to like it, but it was well worth it. After a while I preferred to play the simple beta over MW2. The sense of teamwork is all there. If you don't work together you will lose. With MW2 it's all aimless killing to get killstreaks and almost every time you spawn in a small map you will die. And graphics are so much better in BFBC2. It's 720p native resolution is amazing. MW2 has a resolution that I have never heard of, 600p native! They did that to improve frames per second. They just upscale the resolution to 1080p which does nothing! Almost every game can upscale to 1080p and no game has 1080p native resolution until GT5 comes out. To add to BFBC2. DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENT!! It's just awesome. The guns are great too. The sound that the guns make in the game are actual sound that the guns make in real life and when jumping your gun jumps along with you. Gravity on the bullets is an upside and bullet detection is great too. Over all, BFBC2 is more of a PS3 game like Killzone 2 and MW2 is more of a XBOX 360 game. MW2 is more of an arcade game. So those people who are obsessed with MW2, please give it a shot. Expand

People are actually comparing this to MW2? Are you insane? This is like Rogue Warrior with online... the gameplay is stupid and cheap, graphics are sub-par and the single player makes this package look weak and relentlessly boring...no tactics or skills are required for this foolish hurried mess made by DICE. The only skill associated with this game is not buying it at all at Gamestop or anywhere else. Their are plenty of other games out now with all the assets and none of the crap that BC2 seems to be the breeding ground for. Picking Up on Nikko C.'s 'review' (and I use the term loosely); Overated?! Look at Modern Warfare And Just think. That is one of the most over-hyped games of this generation, and when it comes down to it, is just another sub-standard shooter. As far as I'm concerned, the graphics in a game shouldn't matter at all unless they're completely game-breaking, and BC2's graphics are far from it. There's a load of detail in the environments, on the weapons, vehicles and explosions etc. and whilst it may not look as good as MW2, It doesn't make any real difference. You picked up on the fact that the gameplay is occasionally rather chaotic. And that's because you obviously have no idea how to work as a squad or a team (the squad system is implemented extremely well into BC2) if you manage to get a balanced team that uses classes effectively, which isn't hard, then you'll probably find the gameplay to be more tactical, more fluid and generally more enjoyable than that of Modern Warfare. And besides, it's when the game is chaotic that it's most fun. If you're going to look at the gameplay as pointless, then isn't absolutely every game pointless? And hey, Rush and Conquest modes have a load more "point" that the standard deathmatches that have become the most usual in most FPSes. The maps are designed with team based gameplay in mind and are extremely varied and well balanced, with plenty of destructible cover, such as houses and dense forest. Every map has been designed with care and attention to how players will work. For example, there are plenty of posts where a sniper can wait, while there are hidden spots nearby for Shotgunners nearby, so that they can defend and depend upon the sniper. As I said, they are designed with teamplay in mind, Not rampaging about by yourself. Vehicles are light and bouncy, and rocketing around the maps in an ATV or blasting holes in buildings with a Tank helps to give your team the edge and is very fun. The controls work very well as long as you aren't an imbecile and Vehicles are very well balanced. Tanks aren't too hard to destroy if you !Work As A Team! and use the class system well enough. The controls are mostly like any other FPS on the market, and if you can't get used to the configurations, it's quite frankly your fault, not the game's. Within 2 minutes of the first mission you already know the controls and within 5 minutes you're able to use them effectively. Sound is used incredibly well, with a nice soundtrack and decent voice acting. While you're fighting through the battlefields, you can hear soldiers shouting and shooting. Guns, grenades, explosions all sound realistic and are well recorded. Weapons are the same as in most shooters generally, with each class having their own unique weapons (Recon has Snipers, Assault has Light Machine guns) and there are weapons that can be used by every calss (Such as shotguns). So nothing to compain about. The online upgrades system is quite simple really, you level up by doing well in games and subsequently unlock upgrades for whichever class(es) you used throughout the game. Finding the enemy is also rather simple, providing you have eyes. Your teamates can also "Spot" the enemies by hitting a button whilst they're looking at them, which marks them on your radar and shows their location on your screen. You ended your review with "Trust Me." But I don't know how in Hell's name anyone can trust you when you only played the game for 3 small hours. I don't think that unless you've completed the campaign and spent a good few hours online that you are in any position to review a game properly. Rant Over. It's a good game, Worthy contender to MW2, Maybe even surpasses it. Compare it to MW2 Yourself, But if you're a bloody CoD fanboy, keep your biased opinions to yourself. Expand

This is STILL one of my favorite games for the PS3. MW2 is fun in its own respect as a twitch shooter and a nice perks system, but cheating is rampant and I can't stand children whining and camping. But BFBC2 is better in sound design, pace and overall multiplayer. Unlike other shooters, the battlefield is wide open allowing you to utilize a bigger area to flank your enemy, sneak or drive a tank down his throat. There are some annoyances like spawning on top of your squad mate which is often cheap but there is a 5 second delay between spawns as in Uncharted 2. Buy this game for the multiplayer portion although SP is better than most. Expand

Bad Company 2 may not have as good of a campaign as other shooters, though the likable characters and fun locals make the campaign a blast for the 8 hours it lasts. The real star is the team based multiplayer that is balanced, fun, and has great DLC. Bad Company 2 is one of the best shooters of 2010! Don't miss it!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a fantastic game. The single player campaign couldn't be classed as challenging and it is a bit short, but that is to be expected with the Battlefield games. The game's script is superb and the story is interesting. Yet again, the graphics are top notch. As with all Battlefield games, it's all about the online Multiplayer. Dice have given us huge maps that can be used with three main game modes: Conquest (capture and hold the flag), Rush (attack/defend style game) and plain old team deathmatch. Certain game types allow for vehicles to be used, which really add to all the action. Your character's load-out depends on which class you pick and each class has its own strengths and weakness' -- no class can do everything. This, for me, is one of the best aspects of BFBC2; you need to work as a team in order to come out of a match victorious. Need a tank taken out? You're not going to manage that one as a medic. If you're looking for a fast-paced, run and gun style game then Battlefield is not for you. Expand

I had my 1st experience with this game about 2 months ago, rented it from Blockbuster, right before Black Ops came out. I'd only spent about 5 hours or so with the game, and wqs frustrated at first at the difference in gameplay presented as opposed to anything I've experienced in the CoD franchise. BC2 is definitely geared toward the more tactics oriented crowd, though in my multiplayer experience I didn't find too many instances of people working together towards a common goal. HOWEVER..... after a 2 month hiatus, I got REALLY tired of Black Ops, and now MW 2 is unplayable because of hackers. So, I purchased BFBC 2 from Amazon today and am fully expecting to immerse myself in the experience this time and OWN it. I'd recommend BC 2 to anyone tired of Activision's b.s. Expand

played the first battle field bad company and thought it was ok but nothing really impressed me to much about it . the second one is a improvement . the single player feels alittle bit better but not by alot . i think dice could do a much better job with the destructable enviroments especially when you look at red faction . the graphics are pretty decent and the story mode is kinda intresting . could use a online co -op though for sure would have made it alot more fun. after beating the story mode once probubly never play it again. the online is the best part of the game . all kinds of vehicles to drive , different classes you can play and level up (leveling them up though is very very slow) , 4 player sqauds help with team work if by any miracle you find some one who uses a mic. down side would be not alot of map varity im not sure how many maps the game has through all game modes but doesnt seem like alot . also even though some of the game modes are cool there is not alot of them . over all though it was a pretty fun online game that kept me busy for a few weeks . I'm not going to sit here and compare Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to Modern Warfare 2. It just wouldn't be fare to Modern Warfare 2. I say that because Modern Warfare 2 is "just" a run and shoot type of game and that's it. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is so much more then that. In Bad Company 2 when you shoot the wall it comes down "Eventually" actually the entire building you are in can fall on top of you if you stick around long enough. In Modern Warfare 2 although you can shoot through the walls, they are there to stay. In Battlefield Bad Company 2 you can use light armored vehicles like Humvees and quad bikes. In heavy vehicles you have the Abrams and T-90 Tanks. In the water you have a choice between water crafts or patrol boats. In the air you have my favorites the Apaches, Havocs and Hinds and yes Bad Company 2 also have UAVs which are way better then the UAVs from Modern Warfare 2. Now on to Modern Warfare 2's vehicles (only but the sound of crickets) whoever heard of a Modern Warfare without combat vehicles??? Okay moving on... Battlefield Bad Company 2 stages are 5 times to 10 times the size of Modern Warfare 2 combat zones. Okay in all fairness in Modern Warfare 2 you are on foot... the entire time... no vehicles... not even a dirt bike.... okay moving on again. Battlefield Bad Company 2 has night and day combat... Modern Warfare only has high noon shootouts... after that everyone takes a break for the rest of the day. Sniping (The Love of my life) My heart literally skips a beat when I take someone out at 200+ yards (especially when it's another sniper) There are no words that can describe the feeling you get when you watch that bullet down drift into the enemies head. Modern Warfare 2 has nothing and I mean nothing that comes close to that. Snipping in Modern Warfare 2 was a after thought. Oh wait.... didn't I say I wasn't going to sit here and compare Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to Modern Warfare 2???? Ooooops! I told ya it wasn't going to be fair to MW2. I literally don't have the space to talk about all the features that Battlefield Bad Company 2 has and what Modern Warfare 2 is lacking compared to Battlefield Bad Company 2 but the truth is that I like Modern Warfare 2 but I love Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield Bad Company 3 is already on its way so buckle up folks :-) Expand

Yeah, I see a lot of COD comments here and the majority is just straight up immature, unreasonable and unfair. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a great FPS game and I had more fun with both its campaign and multiplayer than MW2. The campaign, though granted it's really short and the story feeling a bit cut out, I actually had fun going through it . You can thank that to the Bad Company squad who are funny as hell though they did get a bit more serious than they were in the first Bad Company but they still kept their wise cracking remarks and jokes, making the campaign more than just being a typical shooter campaign, it's like a road trip. Only really dangerous. Multiplayer wise, it is more balanced than the COD games and actually goes with a more realistic portrayal of being a soldier. You are put in a squad and does a good job with how it plays it out and Frostbite 1.5's destruction engine makes the field of battle more strategic and realistic, made complete with a great arsenal of weapons and vehicles. I would recommend the online multiplayer than it's campaign since that is what Battlefield is all about. Expand

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a fantastic sequal to an awesome game. The single player is a huge step up in my opinion over the first. I like to think the first game was to establish who the characters were and the sequal is when they put these characters in a new situation. The game feel like a much "bigger picture" kind of game while the first was a more intimate story. This game is also a lot more like a summer blockbuster than many other mode day set shooters. i feel that other shooters take themselvs a little to seriouse. The original Bad Company was a little to silly, this one hits the sweet spot. The multiplayer is also a huge step up from the last one. It feels like the series wanted to go back to its roots a little bit. the only problem i have with the game is the graphics. the faces of the main characters look ok but the rest of the game is populated by poeple that were beat with an ugly stick. its really strange to me because the rrest of the game is great looking. Simply the most explosive, unbelievably intense & varied battlefield experience you will be talking about with your friends until the next iteration comes out! Bring on the Vietnam DLC!!! This part is in response to the obviously mis-informed JohnD who goes on a complete baseless rant. You see, Modern Warfare is a great game no doubt. I've played countless hours on it for months on end. It's just that Battlefield presents you with hundreds of WTF situations, in a good way (affectionately known as "Battlefield Moments"), a lot more so than MW2. I'll often compare the two like so: MW 1&2 are like playing intense "tag" in a small - medium size office floor. It has great gadgets, cool kill streaks, amazingly deep customisable options, is fun & looks fantastic. BUT. Battlefield is like playing "war" in a small - medium sized office floor. THEN moving to the next floor, THEN the next floor and so on, until you either win convincingly or the defenders rip the glory right from under your noses. . You could spend the whole map fighting over one set of M-COM stations, or battle hard through a whole set of four! Simply outclasses all competition. BUY IT! (& I'll see you on the battlefield!) Single player is weak, 1 point off for that. But the multiplayer has many different weapons and vehicles, and the combat takes place on maps with breathing room. Vehicles had splendidly as do the weapons. Building are destrucable and can be brought down on your enemies. If you do not feel like running around in a box, and just shooting, dieing and respawning this games for you. If you would like to kill your enemies with a tank or a helicopter, instead of some vehicle doing the work for you, pick it up. Expand

The campaign was ok, but nothing really special, but the online multiplayer was totally awesome.I think that this game is the best online shooter at the moment. The feel you get when you play the multiplayer is totally different compared to when you play a game like call of duty. This game just feels lot more realistic.Driving around the map with a tank , blowing up buildings and these kind of things make this game totally different compared to other FPS games. The multiplayer deserves a 9, but the campaign deserves something like 7, so I have to give this game an 8. This game is fantastic and one of the greatest FPS i have every played. The game physics are incredible and close to being realistic. The game destruction makes the game epic and intensifies the game experience. The single player campaign, is fun, although a little weak. The characters are not very interesting and the humor is not very funny. DICE could improve in this area. The multi-player is where the game really shines. Undoubtedly the greatest multi-player shooter on the planet. The frostbite engine is the future of game engines. This game really set's the standard for future FPS and should not in anyway be compared to the Call of Duty games, as this is a superior game in every way. Look forward to Battlefield Bad Company 3 as you will not be disappointed with that game. Expand

Great game, great multi-player option with lots tanks, cars, helicopters, and military equipment that you can use. The only reason I didn't give a 10 is that, unlike Modern Warfare 2, there are no special abilities or anything that you gain over time, nor custom classes that you can make.

i gave this game a 9 because i haven't come across a game that deserves a perfect 10 yet . first i would like to put this one piece of input that i believe is extremely important . don't compare this game with modern warfare 2 because you can't . other than the genre of the game you can't compare them because they are both totally different games . the things i love about this game is the fact that DICE takes care of their customers (giving map packs for free and fixing things as soon as possible), the game doesn't make you mad even though you are loosing, the fact that it's a team based game makes it amazing, destructible environment is spectacular, vehicles make the game more interactive and it's probably the most balance shooter i have ever played . the things i dislike about the game is the terrible support for headsets, people who spam C4 to take down objectives and input lag . overall this game is worth taking a look at and you have to give it a chance before you call it a terrible game because it took me time to appreciate the game for what it was and not what it wasn't like compared to modern warfare 2 . In short: The story is... not so great. The multiplayer is great when you're in a good game, and less of those over time seem to be occurring. The quality (and quantity) of players seem to have decreased. As one would expect, the graphics would improve with technology. The destructibility of buildings and balanced vehicles really sets this game apart. Multiplayer classes really add to gameplay, but are not always perfectly balanced. It has very good online value, but not good story value. Otherwise, it's just another FPS. Expand

Great FPS. It has all the bells and wistles you expect from a new shooter and some that other don't have. The inclusion of vehicles in multiplayer makes a big differnce. It adds a whole new dimension of fighting and strategy. All in all, if you like FPS's, you should allready have this.

Don't listen to the pro- MW2 players that have comments badly about the "noob-tube" or "camping" i feel that this is rarely a problem when playing because you always know where they are campaign and often find routes around to take them out. Unlike MW2, BFBC2 has kept the classes simple and easy to understand. This way you don't worry about perks or "skills" that a lot of people comment you on. I find that the rank system is better because i find that getting each rank is a massive challenge and you have a sense of achievement as you often get a decent unlock that you can use across all classes. This is unlike MW2 because when you often rank up you my get a gun that you will never use because you don't play that style of game. For example getting a sniper rifle when you hate sniping and rather be in CQB. I find that single player campaign has a much more of a story and a better sense and feel of the characters you are playing with. While playing the game i felt like that i was a real battlefield with almost every wall being destructible. BC2 has a better graphics is much better then MW2 and the sheer enjoyment i get for killing people by destroying walls is part of the game. I also like the bullet drop factor on the sniper rifles when shooting at distance (however should be implemented to assault rifles and pistols also.) unlike MW2 when shooting people who look like dots is as easy as shooting someone a point blank range, the only difference being they are a smaller target. BC could of expanded some of their maps as i feel that can be a bit too small. Overall i would recommend this game to everyone i know, unless you are a real COD fan that thinks using a GL is "Noobish" even though the REAL army use them. I would love to see them in the face of battle with nothing other then a GL to fight with, see how they take the situation then. Death or risk being called a noob. Expand

First thing it hasnt got the best single player story it's alright but lacks fun. However the mulitiplayer makes up for it because of the destructive environment, squad team work and your character selection ! The main thing in my opinion that makes it better then Call Of Duty is that you have to work together then lone wolf gunning down everyone. My only wish would be to allow the same kind of weapon upgrades allowable in COD, then they could stop **** about how thats the 1 up, also it would be awesome. Just received the game for X-mas. I am a long time gamer since the start of gaming, seen it all. Played a bit of the campaign but mostly on X-box live. Lets start with the graphics that everybody is saying so great. My TV is 53" 6 year old HD projection (witch weren't that great to start with) so the graphics look like sh** and I have trouble seeing enemies and tanks even close up some times, you have to look for motion for something to stand out. Especially with all the constant smoke and dust obscuring visibility. You shoot an enemy up and a cloud of smoke obstructs further aiming. Not knowing where your enemies are is very realistic but it seems like most of the times you die you never see it coming, sometime the radar will light up enemies when they are shooting at you but allot of times it doesn't which is very frustrating because you can't rely on it. They are trying to take 3D life where you have your 6 senses working 360 degrees and peripheral vision - and then translate it to 2D which doesn't work. They have to give you alternate senses to rely on to replace the ones lost. Allot of times it ends up being just a free fraul off killing and deaths unless you are on a drastically winning team or are on a private chat with 3 other friends to coordinate attacks and expose enemies by sacrificing your own. The ability to respawn on your own personal and bases makes dying only a minor inconvenience adding to the free fraul. In conquest respawning only at home base would solve this plus being made to take bases in order and the game ending when you posses all the bases would eliminate the craziness and late game home base blood baths creating a straight forward goal based battle. The next biggest frustration with the game is getting stuck on you surroundings either waking or driving. When walking anything over 6 inches tall (step height) stops you dead forcing you to jump as well as hills you think you should be able to climb up stop you and you sit there jumping like an idiot trying to get up. You will end up pulling your hair out because of this. When driving a tank you get stuck on almost everything. There is not much that can stop a tank in real life but when you get stuck on a wooden fence or building it's frustrating. Some things come down easy an others do not - very frustrating You should be able to flatten the grass/bamboo/tin huts in the Vietnam version without even slowing down. Some will break with effort but by then you are dead from enemy fire that you can't locate it's origin . Next is the weapons capabilities, as you build rand they give you more weapons not necessarily better ones. As you scroll thought the list of weapons you can't compare them directly, you find two you like at opposite ends of the list and by the time you scroll from one to the other you can't hardly remember where the bar was - to solve this give the power / accuracy / range bars a numerical value. As well the ability to only use one spec in each of the three spec columns is a piss off. You put hundreds of hours into the game to earn this stuff and only get to use 3. They make you choose between armor or ammo, targeting systems or speedy reloading ect............................It feels like all the time and progress is futile. You should be able to use them all, you put the time in you reap the benefits. If it gives you to much of an advantage make them harder to get or set up games where your entrance depends on ability. Low rank players play with other low rankers ect... Another thing that is frustrating is the aiming ability, whenever you hit the button it seems like I am always pointing at the enemies feet. If you set the sensitivity low it moves to slow and you end up dead, too fast and you over shoot the target every time, I can't seem to find a happy middle ground. Always liked some sort of mild auto aiming. Lastly the gun sights projected out in front of you whether walking or driving are either white or lighted red or blue. The white being the worst, you have a hard time seeing them especially when going though like back ground colours or smoke. Half the time you can't tell where you are aiming. The 4x red dot scope is a great spec but you have to pass up other good specs to use it. I should have waited for version 3. I hope they address all the problems with #2 and fire all their testers and hire some that know what they are doing and have some balls to say that the game isn't ready yet!… Expand

Battlefield Bad Company 2 has some of the best multiplayer of any game within the last generation. When firing a weapon on BF:BC2 the weapons feel like they have weight to them. Compared to CoD where the weapons have barely any recoil and and are to accurate for real weapons. Damage on BF:BC2 is also more realistic than most shooters on the market. When firing at an enemy it will only take a couple bullets to take them down, so you do not have the problem where you are shooting someone and all of a sudden they turn around and kill you with a shotgun blast. Another advantage that this game has over CoD is that there are tanks and and hum-Vs to drive. Maps on BF:BC2 are larger than any shooter out. BC2 also has destructible building and enviroments, which is helpful against campers. Camping is a huge issue in the CoD series, but BC2 discourages camping. For instance if an enemy is hide behind a window of a house and is not going anywhere else the player can just get into a safe area and fire a grenade launcher at the wall and it will destroy the wall and most likely that enemy behind it. BC2 is a great shooter for people who are tired of the arcadish feel of CoD and all the other copycats. Expand

This game is really good, the multiplayer is balanced and fun, the campaign has many great set pieces and good humor, which a lot of people including myself, find amusing. Like any other game it has it's flaws, and that has to be with the length of the story, it's short. However a good experience. Multiplayer is one of the best i have ever played, unlike call of duty it focuses on realism and teamwork, which makes the battlefield experience different. First of all, let's look at the singleplayer. If you're buying this game for the singleplayer, don't bother. The story is lame and I just forced myself through it. I was glad when it was over. The story in the original Bad Company was better. But here, they took out the humor and made it darker. Being a player of the original Bad Company, the teammates seem like completely different persons. If the story was light hearted like the first, I would be softer. But then again, the Battlefield series never focused on stories, and always focused on online. Now this is where you get your money's worth! Is BC2 online better than the online from the first? Yes. You can now have attachments to your guns and have vehicle perks. Speaking of guns, they didn't put in any new guns, but I'm okay with that. The parachute is a great welcome too. And now you can give a class a completely new gun (e.g. The Sniper can now have a sub-machine gun). Unfortunately, majority of the guns are exclusive to their respective class and there is only one gun of each type that you can give to another class. (The Thompson is the only sub-machinegun that you can use in any class and so on). In conclusion, the 9 score ONLY applies if you're playing online. Do NOT buy it for singleplayer. Online is the real deal here. And it can show how gritty war can be. Expand

I played the demo of BFBC2 while regularly playing MW2 and frankly, I didn't like it. At the time the controls felt awkward, the map seemed too big and I didn't understand what the hell was going on. After playing the Call of Duty series like crazy and giving this game another chance (I got about 50 hours invested) I can say with 100% certainty that this is the better series. Its damn hard, almost frustrating jumping into the fray this late, especially when everyone already has good kits, but I will say this...95% of the time, you die on BFBC2 because of a mistake on your part not because of lag or someone cheating. There are occasional graphic glitches but I haven't had the game freeze up or anything like that. If Battlefield 3 builds on these core mechanics with superior graphics, fps fans are in for one helluva treat. Expand

I really enjoy bfbc2... i played the single player when it came out and it was not bad. I didnt have my internet up and running in new home and i did enjoy the feel of the game. It wasnt a 10 but it was good (7). The online mode that ive just started a few weeks ago.(bought the game again after my old ps3 broke...not machine fault but my kid lol) i really enjoy it and look forward to the new game. Its online is excellent though. Not just run and gun and throw grenades at everyone like others.I could go on but online id give it an 8.5. soooooo my score is overall an 8 Expand

Very average. Honestly, from the start of the campaign, to the end credits, nothing happened to the characters. They didn't change at all, even if every event in the story didn't happen, the characters would be no different. The gunplay is average, pretty much the same as BFBC 1, the only difference being that the enemies fire different guns that in BFBC 1. Buy it for multiplayer, or don't buy it at all. Expand

Great game, fantastic multiplayer, and love the destruction. I cant say im too fond of the single player campaign but whatever, its not the focal point of battlefield games, im shocked the even included single player. Alot of guns, maps, and game modes to play. This is a great installment in the battlefield franchise and a great alternative to modern warfare 2.

The single player is cool and the story is told well. But for anything if you know what is going on in the prequel you'll know more about the story. The multiplayer is absolutely **** your'e a Call of Duty asswipe and cant take the AWSOMENESS of Battlefield:Bad Company 2,this would never of been achieved if there was no Frostbite1.5 engine. You can choose what you want to do you can lone wolf or work as a team you can find what class you are good at and level each class individually, one downfall to the unlocking of perks, equipment and weapons is too quick, leveling up takes longer,I think thats why you unlock things faster to equalize the the time for leveling up,each class gets it's own unlocks that you can only use for that class. The Frostbite engine provides lots of reality to gaming it gives the ability to destroy walls, buildings and it gives accuracy to guns and the bullets actually travel I mean when you shoot someone from a distance and is moving you have to aim where the target is going to travel to and time it right where the bullet needs to go so the target and bullet meet. This game is better than it's rival(Call of Duty)for numerous reasons(It doesn't lag often, bigger maps and vehicles including nearly every vehicle for each situation or just to tear through the enemies.)The graphics are not as good as Call of Duty:Modern Warfare2 or Call of Duty:Black Ops but that doesn't mean the graphics are bad it means simply they are not as detailed. There are lots of explosions. The sound quality is amazing. But what makes it better is having sound surround system. It is a must have. Not having this in your life is like not having chocalate in your life. It is a Playstation3 essentiel! Expand

  1. The most flattering way to look at Bad Company 2 is as an intense online shooter with a slightly dodgy singleplayer mode included as a free bonus.
  2. 'Battlefield: Bad Company 2' comes armed with a heavy arsenal and some bad attitudes, and delivers another solid shooting experience that will please fans of the original, and dare I say it, the "COD" clan as well.
  3. Although the singleplayer campaign is entertaining enough, it is in the multiplayer that this game really shines. Almost perfectly balanced, the vehicles, destructible buildings and team-play make this game a joy to play and a must for any fans of the genre.
