Some solid combat dynamics can't make up for the fact that the plot and character development, or lack thereof, falls flat in every way.
Blades of Time offers a good combat system and a charismatic heroine, but it's undermined by a dull story and a mediocre technical production.

As for me, Blades of Time is great. I've read awful reviews that said the games is X-Blades update. You guys have gone mad to mark it. There's nothing in common but the main fact main heroine is a woman. I liked chaotic beasts anyway - artists made really happy with this creatures, some of them can be found in Shumerian mithology, some look like Lovecrafts' fantasies. The plot is interesting and that time rewind feature makes the game even more misterious. So, i gonna keep on playing and will tell u later smth else - i will like or dislike

An amazing game, really, have much good points, is like a spirit sequel of X-Blades other amazing game, this game have much amazing points, the characters, the story, control, gameplay, is an amazing title, and yes better than Mass Boring 3.

A mediocre title with a good combat system ruined by a lot of technical issues.
It just isn't particularly good. [Issue#84, p.86]
Even at a budget price, I'm not sure that I'd recommend Blades of Time. It can be pretty to look at, and there are some decent concepts behind its combat system. It's also a better game than the middling experience provided by X-Blades, but not by much. As a whole, it feels like it could have used far more development time and play testing than it likely received. It's probably worth a rental if you're really curious, but I wouldn't suggest a purchase.
As it stands, these blades still need a lot more sharpening.
Some of the ideas at the core of it are brilliant, but the same thing could be said of the atomic bomb. Blades of Time is slightly more pleasant than a nuclear explosion, but that doesn't make it worthy of your money or your time.
Blades of Time is the spiritual sequel to the cult game xblades and provided you overlook the fact its a little rough around the edge its a excellent indie action game.
At its core this is a Gods of War style game with a few nice addition. Most notably is the time mechanic that allows you to rewind time and thereby be in 2 places at once to solve puzzles. Its a nice mechanic that works well.
The game as a whole is a little on the glitchy side but in my playthrough there was nothing game breaking just the odd clipping and animation error.
graphics are good if not amazing and everything plays nicely. One thing I would say is the enemies do not react to you attacks enough so it seems like you are not really damaging them until they finally explode.
All in all its a fun action game that may be a little bit too much for a full price game but if you can pick it up in a bargain bin or second hand (which probably is already an option) its a fun title to waste a weekend on.

Blades of Time
More than just booty this time
Blades of time is the much anticipated sequel to x blades
If you’ve seen my review for that game, you’d know this is complete sarcasm
this game is miles better though, but that’s not saying much
This is an over complicated hack and slash adventure game where you play as your favorite gun slinging sword wielding treasure hunter Ayumi
You spend the game trying to find a way to escape the island shes been treasure hunting on
Ayumis has grown up a bit from last time we saw her
her booty’s a bit covered, and much like Madonna she seems to have moved across the pond and ditched her valley girl accent for a fake English accent
, Throughout the game you’ll find treasure chests with upgraded gear and jewelry for bonus perks and you’ll stop at alters to gain elemental powers of your choice
You use these weapons and powers to destroy every creature that dare cross your path, you meet a fiery version of you along the way that gives you hints on how to progress through the story, and also gives you a pretty awesome rewind ability.
This rewind ability can create essentially an infinite amount of clones of you so you have more woman power in a battle to do double triple or quadruple the damage at once, as well as for solving puzzles that have 2 or more pressure pads
This rewind ability takes a little time to get used to, really over complicates things, but you will grow to appreciate it.. not love it..just appreciate it
The challenge in this game really comes down to the combat, enemies are pretty tough, you’ll die in 2 to 3 hits, so you have to actively watch your health bar and dodge or counter attacks to let your health regenerate, there are 10 chapters here that take you to varied locations, that will have you dashing through shadows to avoid the sun or hopping from plant to plant sonic the hedgehog style
and these locations all feature their own boss..
Boss battles can be a little frustrating at times, but none ever feel cheap...
Like any great boss battle, you just need to feel them out, study a bit and go for the killing blow.
Blades of times is an enjoyable time and far less repetitive than the prequel
But ultimately it delivers a lackluster experience and story that I really didn’t care about…
I didn’t care about ayumi or any of the characters I met along the way…
I took every twist and turn as they came..
Nothing punched me in the gut, which sadly leaves blades of time feeling like just another hack and slash game with a gimmick
I got to the end and something happens that should’ve made me feel something.. anything.. it just didn’t
The credits started to roll and I just said, oh…
There’s fun to be had here, but nothing special at all.
I give Blades of Time
a 7/10

The game isn't perfect, by any means, but it's still a good game. For those complaining about story, I didn't think it was as bad as 90% of shooters that get 90+ metascore for being boring and repetitive, "go here, shoot this, retrieve info, go there, shoot that retrieve suspect, blah blah blah....". The combat is awesome, the graphics aren't "super sweet so real you can't tell if it is real or not its sooooo realistic", and personally, I like it that way. If I want reality, I turn off the video games. I enjoy the more fantastical environments, everything being so realistic all the time in today's gen of gaming has made it pretty mundane, as far as I'm concerned. Also, I suppose I can say it reminds me of the PS2 days, where I also thought most AA games were better than most AAA games. They're more inventive, as opposed to big budget games that are basically copy, paste, and slightly edited versions of the previous game. I would say this game is a meeting of Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider. If you enjoy either of those games, or the action genre in general, check this game out. Don't listen to the reviewers who can't wait to put this game down so they can pick up the new yearly release of CoD, Assassins creed, and now what looks like it's going to be Gears (sadly they jumped on the kill the franchise wagon). I thoroughly enjoyed this game.

Sitting **** sure of itself at the alluring price of 9.99 I thought to myself there was no way I could have regretted this purchase. Even the cashier told me he enjoyed it, and that is always a good sign right? Well this game blows, don't even accept it as a gift. Just turn the casing upright and smack the gift giver across the face, for they truly think you're some form of gaming scum bag if they thought this kind of game would be 'right up your alley'. On paper this should have worked; the you vs horde combat God of War in a tepid relationship with the time control mechanics of the Prince of Persia franchise. I admit, there were moment when this combo worked but my god just everything else fell apart around it. The combat became tiresome, the puzzles weren't puzzles just a ridiculously out of your way path that you have to reach and as a whole this game just ****. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
