It is a pretty decent fighter. Like it has been said there is great nearly lag free online play. Characters are not as appealing as some other fighters though. Anyone with some experience in anime will find the characters as cliche as they come. The story will also seem familiar if you follow a lot of anime. The story will also seem familiar if you follow a lot of anime. It is not really original with its magic vs science theme. Some of the characters do not feel that original. Ragna for example seems to be some mix between terry bogard and sol badguy. Most of the skill sets that the characters perform bear resemblance to other moves in some other fighters. The animation that Gonzo provides in the game is also subpar. Gameplay can be pretty fun as it can be rather deep at times. I don't like how some of the characters don't seem to actually fight and instead depend on gimmicks and projectiles instead of contact, but this is common in doujin type fighters. All round it is not a bad game but it certainly is no Garou MOTW, Accent core, or 3rd strike. Blazblue is a great 2D fighter with fantastic anime graphics. It's well balanced and fun to play, offering a deep fighting system whilst still being accessible for beginners. Most importantly, the characters, moves and general design all provide a breath of fresh air in a genre totally dominated by Capcom products.

A great anime fighter. It pretty much plays similarly to Marvel vs Capcom, but the pace is like Street Fighter. It has a suprisingly great story, an amazing soundtrack, a balanced character roster and just has a unique style. However the learning curve is pretty harsh even for a fighting game which unfortunately drags the game down a bit. But overall, the game is very fun and addicting, ifA great anime fighter. Seeing all the high reviews on this game, it pains me to say that this is not the most magnificent godly of a game that has been created since Gears of War. Really though, games like Soulcalibur 4 and Street Fighter 4 manage to blend in surprisingly good gameplay with beautiful, artistic 3D graphics, but this game never went beyond the 2D genre, which is kinda sad seeing that most Seeing all the high reviews on this game, it pains me to say that this is not the most magnificent godly of a game that has been created since Gears of War. Really though, games like Soulcalibur 4 and Street Fighter 4 manage to blend in surprisingly good gameplay with beautiful, artistic 3D graphics, but this game never went beyond the 2D genre, which is kinda sad seeing that most fighters have implemented the whole "3D" graphics. It does have solid gameplay and an easy to navigate through menus, but that is not enough to give this game an amazing score. The cutscenes in the story mode will probably gouge most people's eyes out. Expand

  1. Who would have thought a 2D side-scrolling fighter could look this amazing on a next-gen system. Well, obviously ARC did and they delivered with the heir apparent to the Guilty Gear franchise.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is the type of game fans usually get only once a generation. The sheer amount of passion and care that was taken to ensure balance, accessibility, and enjoyment is nearly unmatched.

Their work deserves attention -- and praise -- because it exceeds expectations and delivers a thoroughly well-thought out, pragmatic, and enjoyable online experience. I can say without hesitation that BlazBlue raises the barometer on which all fighters should be judged.
