  • Summary: Blitz: The League II continues the franchise legacy as the ultimate alternative to the watered-down, licensed competition. In addition to an all-new story mode penned by Peter Egan (ESPN's Playmakers), Blitz: The League II features include: Precision-Aim Tackles, player-controlled touchdown celebrations, an enhanced on-the-field Clash Mode, online multiplayer capabilities, expanded rosters with all-new personalities, and the return of a cornerstone of the Blitz franchise...Late Hits! 1. Blitz: The League II is not just another sports game! Midway combines action, fun and an ironic touch to bring pep in the genre. Maybe, fans of accurate tactics, rules and simulation will be a little bit disappointed, but other gamers will definitely be satisfied!
  2. It's readily apparent that Blitz: The League II is not a game for football purists. The use of power-ups, lack of penalties and dirty play is enough to make them cringe. However, for fans of arcade-style sports games, The League II is pretty good.
  3. If you are looking for an alternative to Madden, Blitz II: The League has enough punch to make it worth the purchase. It’s not going to replace the ultra high gloss of its competitors, but it is an original take on the dark side of sporting.
  4. Blitz II: The League is neither fantastic nor is it bad. The multiplayer is fun and the Campaign does offer a lot of value but the AI issues and the disappointing graphics and sound will put off most people. This won’t appeal to everyone, but if you’re looking for an alternative to the simulation of the Madden Series, you should give Blitz a try.
  5. A fun game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Therefore, players shouldn’t take in-game action too seriously either, and if true-to-life football, play-calling, and tactics is your thing, Blitz is definitely not for you. At the most, this is an arcade intended for a good time, though the fun can tend to be short-lived.
  6. Shallow. [Dec 2008, p.87]
  7. A terrible football game with some good ideas surrounding it, and a marked tendency to make me wish I wasn’t playing it. If you enjoy football games, stick to Madden; Blitz is not a serious competitor, unless you enjoy getting a bit squeamish.

The gaming is well ahead of any other sports games, with big hits and clashes. Injuries and slo-mo make the game more interesting and puts more control into the users hands. Expand

Great graphics, gameplay and as original concept as an American football game could be. So far the only bad aspects of this game are that the playbooks are a little hard to see and the inability to change Franchises' (the story mode player you play as) physical traits. You'll be forced to play as a black dude. At least they made him light skinned so if your hispanic its not a big stretch and if your white maybe you can pretend you got a really great tan. Lots of unlockables (TD celebrations, game modes, etc) and trophies give it a little added depth. Expand

I love the gameplay but the fake urban style and emphasis on being "edgy" was laughable. I have to give this a 7 simply because it isn't a sequel. It is the same thing as Blitz: The League with the same single player story and everything. Nothing has changed but a slight HD upgrade. Felt ripped off after finishing the first one years ago. Expand
