  1. Blur's mix of strategy-based power-ups, load-out menus, and largely varied challenges really make this game a must for all automotive fans. In a genre this oversaturated, it is good to know that there is still some innovation left.
  2. Blur is the most fun I've had with a racing game in a long time. Sure it's not Gran Turismo or Forza, but that's okay by me. It offers depth, a superior online experience and mods, plus a boat load of racing that will keep you occupied for some time.
  3. For the money, I don’t think you’ll be able to find a more current racing game that gets any better than Blur.
  4. If you've been looking for a competent replacement for the Mario Kart series, and really enjoy some online competitive play, then Blur is definitely going to be up your alley.
  5. Thanks to an overall richness of contents and an excellent gameplay, Blur proves to be a great game, fully capable of engaging anyone willing to experience some intense racing action. An absolute must buy for any fan of the genre.
  6. It really is a modern take on the Mario Kart formula, done in a way that feels incredibly cool and refreshing. It's a game anyone could pick up and enjoy, yet there's depth here that only the very best players will appreciate.
  7. Blur is to racing games what Modern Warfare was to shooters. It easily combines the solid racing action we've come to expect from Bizarre Creations with power-ups that provide plenty of depth and options in the game. More significantly its the multitude of layers to the game, in terms of extra challenges and multiplayer, that creates the most absorbing arcade racing action we've had since Burnout Revenge. Simply a must-have for racing fans.

Bizarre Creations knows how to make a game with cars. Blur takes the kart racing genre a step forward with addictive progress bars and an evolved take on using weapons strategically.
  9. A truly excellent racer that we’ll no doubt still be playing this time next year, this is one Blur that even the Gallaghers would admit to liking.
  10. Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)
But multiplayer is where Blur really shines. The eye-melting barrage of speed and pyrotechnics produced by up to 20-player online races is dizzying at times--as is the frequency of race position changes. [Aug 2010, p.81]
  11. BLUR claims to be the ultimate powered-up racing experience, and I would have to agree. Blur is addictive, exciting, and ultimately a blast to play.
  12. Trying to dissociate their name from the PGR brand wasn’t going to be easy. Fortunately, BLUR succeeds. With games like Need For Speed, Burnout, Midnight Club and most recently Split/Second all having a share of the high-octane crazy racing pie, BLUR can proudly sit beside them.
  13. Blur is essentially Mario Kart with deeper driving mechanics and more strategy, but those characteristics are potent enough for it to stand on its own. The unpredictability of races packed with drivers, as well as the wealth of vehicles, tracks, and challenges, ensure that you’ll keep coming back for more.
  14. Mario Kart for grown-ups! With cool power-ups! And real cars! In this fast and action-packed racing game you battle your rivals with power-ups but you need driving skills as well. The online multiplayer keeps you motivated for weeks.
  15. Compared to its biggest rival in today's Game-shelves (split/second), Blur definitely marks the more traditional racing-experience, despite all the flashy power-ups and weapons. But that's not a bad thing at all. Quite the opposite is the case: Blur is really good fun & on all platforms. Especially if you're into that web 2.0-thingy (Facebook-integration).
  16. Solid, fun and compelling, Blur is a great arcade racing game offline but most of all if played online.
  17. Play UK
There's a real sense of calculated attack and defence throughout each race. [Issue#193, p.88]
  18. Blur is a racing game that certainly makes its mark amongst the slew of racing games heading our way in the months to come.
  19. Blur is the thinking person’s death race – if there is such a thing – where your mind is racing just as fast as your motor.
  20. Blur is a great power-up racer that is at times held back by difficult game mechanics. But ultimately, it is an addictive, exhilarating experience that will keep that carrot on a stick at an unreachable distance for a long time.

Mario Kart, but for adults. You can race in different licensed cars and you can use power-ups against the other drivers. The game contains a lot of fun and guarantees lot’s of hours of gameplay. The singleplayer is cool and also the multiplayer is quite fun. If you’re looking for a cooler Mario Kart, than Blur is your game!
  22. It's great for some fast-paced racing with explosions, and the ability to rank up and gain more and more unlockables make it easy and fun to come back to and play just one more race.
  23. Blur is a great racing game. It's at its greatest when you're playing it online against other people, but even offline there's more to things here than just a kart racer with licensed cars.
  24. Despite its shortcomings, Blur winds up being a fantastic racing game. Its kart racing innovations, razor-sharp controls, and incredibly fun multi-player modes ensure that it will be played for quite some time.
  25. Uneven is probably the best description when it comes to Blur. On the one hand the audio work is lacking overall, but the developers went the extra mile to add plenty of sound effects to show if you're racing on pavement or off-road.
  26. 83
The single-player can certainly be a drag with its difficulty and somewhat mundane (and cheap) competition. But in multiplayer, you're constantly being rewarded in one way or another, whether it be through making progress towards a challenge, gaining fans, successfully risking a wreck to win a race, or winning a race by a hair.
  27. 82
Blur is an attractive, intense, fast and thrilling game. It's built over a solid structure, and has a more than satisfying depth.
  28. PSM3 Magazine UK
A kinetic, fast and tactical arcade racer that's best sampled online. [July 2010, p.90]
  29. This fast and exciting racer continually finds a way to keep you circling around for another lap.
  30. If you step back and look at the parts, there's a weird dissonance to Blur, and it doesn't seem like it should work as well as it does, even if it can be an imperfect experience. Bizarre Creations has always danced along the line between simulation and style, and this game only serves to further blur that line.
  31. Blur is a great effort from Bizarre Creations, one that will introduce a slew of kart-racing fans to the scene. While its visuals don't overwhelm like Split/Second's, it holds its own with cool weapons-based gameplay, making it a fun experience.
  32. Plenty of power-ups, speed and adrenaline. The last game from Bizarre Creations is a great success for arcade racers.
  33. Blur is classic combat racing, with a terrific multiplayer. Support for 20 users, a perk system and an impressive amount of cars. A great arcade experience, despite some graphical issues.
  34. Blur is one robust package brimming with good times to be had. While the power ups are nothing new to racing fans, the way the cars react to being damaged by each adds a unique touch to the game.
  35. The A.I. can be absolutely unfair, the sound is lackluster, and the car detail could've been much cleaner. But, the multiplayer is great fun, as is the gameplay, and there's a decent amount of variety as far as cars and tracks.
  36. There's certainly no shortage of racing titles vying for your attention this year, arcade or otherwise. Blur however combines the thrill of high-speed racing with well considered combat, and can easily be regarded as one of the better examples of the arcade racing genre.
  37. 80
Blur plays like a more serious Mario Kart and will give you plenty of online fun. The singleplayer lacks variety but this shouldn't stop arcade gamers from buying it.
  38. Aptly named, Blur tries to unclear the line between kart and sim, but in the process may leave many racing enthusiasts of both sorts uncomfortable.
  39. Blur is one of the most addictive and fun racing games we’ve played in a long time. The intense action, great reward system and excellent balancing let you enjoy every race. Even the varying difficulty in the singleplayer can’t change that.
  40. On the whole however, it’s hard to resist the basic level of fun that Blur’s overall design attributes bring about.
  41. Call of Duty meets Mario Kart in this blazing racer. Get it for the deep online experience and the highly chaotic battles that come with it.
  42. Playstation Official Magazine UK
Want to blow up stuff and drive faster than a greased weasel stapled to a Catherine wheel? Blur is your new best pal. [July 2010, p.110]
  43. As an "arcade racer" Blur adds some new ideas and quickly can captivate and dig a moat of variation for other games that mark direct competition, proving to be cohesive and well equipped in terms of options to ensure good longevity divided between the individual and the strand progression Network.
  44. Blur is a solid fast paced racing game with strong A.I that pushes your driving skills to the maximum. When combined with the games combat element it makes playing Blur an intense and energetic experience that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
  45. Because of the many different power-ups Blur has a deep tactical layer that especially holds its own online. The singleplayer mode teaches you the basics, but the real fun is to be had online, or split screen with your friends. For people without an internet connection the lifespan of the game is significantly cut down because of the lack of quickplay.
  46. In the end Blur deserves a close look, especially by those racing fans out there looking for something a bit different.
  47. If Blur had come out at any other time I might be more forgiving, but there are better games out there right now, and not just in the racing genre. Give it a rental but wait for a sale or price drop before making this a permanent addition to your collection.
  48. The fast-paced races, exciting power-ups and fun online mode aren't marred by a shallow single-player career and a low supply of race tracks. The game's fun online mode more than makes up for any minor issues I have with the game!
  49. On single-player, Blur is an average racing game with a powered-up twist. Repeating races and receiving beautiful cars that remain untouched due to the lack of customization gets old fast. The outdated rave-vibe, including the music and menus, don’t do the presentation any favors either. As a multiplayer title, Blur is absolutely exhilarating.
  50. 75
Blur has its flaws, and a lot of them are the result of good ideas not working out, this however doesn't deter from the fun factor that the game produces.

The graphics are ahead of the curve. Surprised to see licenced cars. Single player has extensive variety. Sad to not see this in the 90+ range. Its visually arresting and works very well, given the inherent chaotic nature of a shootey/racer. Its also a big game with a LOT of cars. Its enjoyably challenging and thats a difficult feat to pull off. (I didnt like any of their Project Gotham Racing games) Full Review »
