Go back 5 years and you'll realize why the Call of Duty franchise is so incredibly popular. The first Call of Dity game became an instant classic with its epic story telling and intense gameplay. Now it's back, with polished HD graphics and the same amazing multiplayer. A must-have in your collection if you, for some reason, missed the mother of all CoD games.

90As well designed and engaging as ever. [Issue#188, p.86]
-
Some inventive Trophies, clean looks and an emotional campaign make this a great purchase at 12 quid. [Feb 2010, p.92]
-
We reckon it holds its own. It doesn't even look that bad after a quick 720p makeover. Why would anybody buy Rogue Warrior when you can get something like this for a quarter of the cost? [Feb 2010, p.77]

75Call of Duty is still an enjoyable game, but it doesn't really shine in this downloadable version.
-
75Truth is, $15 is a good price for a fun game, but I'm still not sure why you would choose to spend it here.

73Although the graphics are outdated, it is still a game to enjoy. People who play the CoD-games a lot, but never played the first part on the PC, now have the chance to play this first Call of Duty game.
-
It's old and occasionally clunky, but this is a little piece of history that definitely holds up. [Jan 2010, p.118]
-
Although it is not as technically advanced as other downloadable games of the consoles, and the control is sometimes frustrating, it is a good opportunity for war action fans to revive one of the classics of the genre.
-
70Call of Duty Classic is recommended to all who love the series and they want to know its roots. Good gameplay mechanics and an engaging story make this game still enjoyable in 2009.
